Mating Clownfish

I have two Ocellaris clowns in my tank. Both about 2 to 2 1/2 inches long. Equal in size. I put them both into the tank when they were about 3/4 to 1 inch long, about two years ago. I expected one to stay smaller than the other with the larger clown being the dominant female. However, they both grew equal in size and do not really exhibit mating behavior, but are not aggressive towards one another. My question is did the mating not happen? And if not, do you think I have two males or two females?. Any thoughts from experienced reefers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That's what I was expecting would happen gradually with the two clowns, as I introduced them when they were babies. But that doesn't appear to be what happened. Do you think I have two males or two females?

Well I was thinking of adding another pair of babies, but I probably will just wait now and let nature take it's course with the fish that I have. Thanks

Some people say just get 2 juveniles from the same batch and they’ll sort it out themselves. Does that usually work for people or does there have to be somewhat of a size difference?
