Mating Clowns

It's pretty clear my clownfish are going through the mating rituals. She hasn't seemed any larger to me yet but they are clearly prepping an area on a live rock and protecting the area. Unfortunately it's an area that I can't see because it's on the back of a rock and I can't get behind my tank.

So my question...I had planned to purchase a peppermint shrimp or an emerald crab today. Would that be a bad decision to add someone today while the clowns are doing their thing?

Also, do clownfish go through this process and NOT get pregnant/lay eggs? I've only seen them do this one other time but no eggs.

What is your goal with the clowns? Because if it is just for then to get it on and lay eggs but not raise the fry... I think adding a crab or shrimp is fine.. as long as there is enough food for them to eat! Crabs often starve to death in small tanks. Shrimp... hm. Unsure.

I have no desire to have more clownfish but that being said I would give it a shot to help them survive. I did get a small breeder tank and have read up on the steps. I would just give them to my LFS if I managed to keep them alive. Im also ok with the circle of life. I think I was just more concerned about my Clownfish being overly aggressive during this time? Wondering if a new member of the tank would cause them to be really aggressive.
