Mating Signs?

I was just curious if there is anything clown fish do that would let me know they are thinking about making some babies!?

Im clowns have been using their mouths to clean away a spot under the top portion of their anemone. Is this normal behavior or maybe I should start feeding a few times more a day and see if something becomes of it?

Just curious. I have always wanted my clowns to make fry! Any other info would be great. Thank you.

watch for them making a nesting site. The male, (typically the smaller one) will clear a spot to lay the eggs. Usually if you see this there is going to be spawning pretty soon. The female may get a more swollen abdomen and will be more assertive and aggressive of the area around their spawning site.

I had a pair of true percs that would spawn pretty frequently. Then you will see them laying eggs, usually the late evening before the lights go out. They will take turns making runs accross the spawning site depositing eggs and sperm.

Breeding and raising the fry is a whole different matter. Read joyce wilkerson't book on clownfish.

Whatever you do, don't change your routine much and the fish will spawn every couple of weeks giving you plenty of oppurtunities to get practice trying to raise the fry.
