Day 1-9.1.11 Added the Matted Filefish. I will update this as time goes on or until he is pulled for destroying everything. Let the games begin.

He took to the tank pretty quickly and likes to follow the foxface around.

We will see if he cleans up the aiptasia.

Watching closely, I went hunting yesterday with joe's juice but I need more than that to clean my tank up. Plus I like the filefish even if it doesn't clean up my aiptasia.

Does it eat pellet or frozen?

I just saw him take his first bite at a piece of aiptasia! I am sure this is like most movies, it starts to work out and then goes horribly wrong fast. He has a week to prove himself or he is going back.

Day 3- Seems to be picking at a palythoa rock. That rock does have a bunch of aiptasia in it. I can't tell at this point if he is going for palys or aiptasia. I will take some pictures on Sunday.

Matted Filefish was a failure. He was constantly eating palythoas. He did not touch zoanthids but loved PPE's. I removed him from the tank and returned him. I am planning on buying 8 peppermint shrimp and we will see if that fixes the problem. I have been removing aiptasia in the sand and using aiptasia X to bring the issue under control.

Sorry to hear that. I started to attack mine but think its going to be impossible to get them all without removing the rock work.

Austin, do you shut all of your pumps when you use aiptasia x? I used to go after them with the pumps on, but would find that the problem would just get worse. I turn off flow, applykalk paste, and wait for 10 minutes before turning everything back on.

how hard was the fish to catch? I've heard that its hit or miss with these guys and was thinking about giving it a try myself? But if he was a pain to catch then i wont try. Neat looking fish and i have a few (10-15 maybe more) and want to stop it before it starts!!

Hmm.. still tempted but I got a lot of palythoas in my tank. I like the filefish and the CBB, will need to see which is a better gamble and has better long term compatibility and survivability.
