Mike here's a picture of those CPR HOB refuge's I was talking about that I have .
The large one is. 24"L x 4" W x 12: H
THe Small one is 12"W x 4" w x 12" H

It looks like I have about 14.5 inches of usable space on the side of my tank. I also have about 5.5 inches of clearance from the wall to the tank... So would the big refugium fit, or am I forced into the small refugium on my 36g? If Im forced into the small refugium, I might try to make a custom fuge out of some plexiglass in order to put the biggest refugium as possible on my tank.

yeah from the inlet to the outlet you'd need at least 23.5" of in tank space
with the small one you'd need 12.5" of in tank space.
