How can other people "stay away" from him if they don't know what he looks like?

I haven't been active here lately, so I'm little out of the loop but it's really a shame that there are "reefers" who pull these kind of stuff on fellow reefers in such a small community. This is terrible and I hope they get it resolved.

the move on already idea is all fine and dandy but there is something to be said for providing others a heads up and since this is an open forum designed primarily for communication and sharing our experiences good and bad.
when i see problems like this i am happy about the 100 post to sell rule. is that still a rule? it should be.

oh you have to love the Internet. its like when paris hilton was on Larry King and said that she has never done drugs... and how long 10 min later the truth was posted on youtube... got to love it.

I think you guys should just let it go already. People make mistakes and I'm pretty sure he learned from it already.

Pictures and law enforcement is over board if you ask me. The buyer made a big mistake by not asking for pics and the seller made a big mistake by sending the item with water.

They both are at fault in some way and I think they both should work this matter out privately.

Its simple... If you don't like this guy and what he did then STAY AWAY FROM HIM! Its kinda like that snipersps thread. Everyone started talking crap about him on the thread but, As soon as he posted and told his side, everything turned out to not be as bad as the thread starter posted.

I dont know this guy Mattmike and can careless about him. I just don't think something like this should prohibit us users to be able to purchase and trust sellers here.

Another thing that I don't agree with is banning him from the SFVR club without hearing his side. Lets remember that its us reef hobbyist who make our clubs. Did he do anything to the club to get terminated? If so, Then yes terminate him. If not, Hear his side.

I hope they both learned a valuable lesson here and make better decisions when making a purchase on RC.

im sorry but there's really no side to this story or if he acknowledge he made a mistake. How do you misrepresent something so obvious? If that denitrator didn't have any labeling on it that said it was a "denitrator" then i would understand that he had a false impression of what the item actually is but apparently it said it was a "denitrator" on it and he sold it knowing that it was not a calcium reactor and advertise it as a calcium reactor. so what side of the story is there to tell?

As for the posting pic of him, I understand and respect all of you guys that think it's unmoral or what not to post his picture but how can we stay away from him not knowing a simple thing about him. Ban him all you want, he can make a new user name. Spam the heck out of the forum to get his 100 post count and then he'll be selling again. When he show up at the next victim's house, the poor dude will not know who he is cause well beside the fact that his name is mattmike, we don't have a face to ID him........

It's not hard to find out what someone looks like if you really wanted to see him. Obviously he has a face book as stated on the thread.

i never said he should be banned from SFVR i just told Conrad and Richard that Matt should resolve his issues before we (as SFVR) can be associated with him.
and the issues he have with Jeff/ jabel is a big deal to me because he is a great guy to be taking advantage off plus i recommended him to Jeff!

Yes indeed he has my 72' light fixture. Does that make him my buddy? Uh NO! I didn't know who he was until I read this thread. When he bought the fixture from me, I didn't even know his name. He was in and out. It was strictly business.

Like I said, I don't know the whole story and it's none of my business. I just hope the seller gets his refund and hope the buyer learned his lesson.

Ok, this should end. I'm sure he's gotten the point. Just so everyone knows. He's contacted me several times this weekend and has offered to make amends. I'm turning him down since I'd rather have nothing to do with him. But, at least he's fullfulled his side of the bargain. Better late than never.

He is just a kid and based on the text messages I've recieved all of this bashing has defeintely had a affect on him. I'd like to see him reimburse the origional poster for the entire ca reactor..... but that may be happening behind the scenes.

So, those of you that read this, don't post again. Just let it end.

Hey guys. Just wanted to say what I wrote in that thread was all true and I have pitcures emails to back it up.

Wish I had asked for pics. I've done a lot of transactions for used stuff here on RC and this was the first time I have ever had a problem. I didn't want to loose the item (they can go fast) so I sent the money to quick. Definetly a mistake. I also used paypal which was linked to my bank account another mistake.

Funny the kid did contact me again and this time no threats or taunts. I told him all I would like is what it would cost to make the reactor what he said it was when he sold it to me which is $216. I also offered to send it back to him COD if he refunds my money. I don't think that is unreasonable.

At least that is what it would take to make it right by me.

A lot of what we do in this hobby has to be based on trust. Stuff like this certainly takes some of the fun out of the hobby although a lot of what I read here in this forum makes me think there a lot more good guys than bad guys.
