as the thread title says......i have a maxi-jet 1200 i would like to swap for a maxi-jet 900. this is for my BRS carbon/gfo reactor. they recommend the 900 for the single canister version that i have.

anybody??

I think I have one, I'll look tomorrow It's in a junk box in the garage. But you can put a valve on the 1200 and slow the flow on the output side just as easily. You just want the media to lightly tumble as not to bruise it HaHaHa, Just kidding. It's so you don't crumble It all up.

yeah the BRS setup comes w/ a ball valve to slow the flow....i just have a feeling w/ the 1200 i'll have to damn near close it

seems like alot of wasted energy to use the 1200 LOL

James, I have a 900 I'll swap you for. The 1200 for one reacotr is a bit much, even with the valve. Electric use is the same. The magnet is on or off and has no variable flow to it. (sorry bill).

This actually works perfectly for me as I need a 1200 and only have a 900.

this is the scenerio i was hoping for....a win/win for both of us :)

With larger pumps That is the case, Thought It would be the same on small ones. I doubt either one uses much electricty, at least to worry about!

Not much. But, as far as powerheads go, the maxi jet is a power hog. A korlaia, Tunze, ect that has much larger flow (1200+) operates at 8-10 watts. That maxijet runs at 28w for 265 gph...not alot in the grand scheme, but still plenty a huge amount over other technologies.

Any system that utilizes an energized magnet is an on/off principal, unless there is feedback from the resistance against the impeller.

Larger pumps that are shaft driven may be able to reduce dynamically, but I don't see how a small scale magnetron is able to.

thanks for the swap andy :)

i have 2 more of these, so for those that ordered the BRS dual-chamber carbon/gfo reacotr & need a pump, i will swap for a small mini-jet or micro-jet pump. i just need something w/ small flow for a cheato tumbler

will also sell outright cheap....have all the mounts & such for using them as powerheads too
