will these run on a wavemaker?i've read thing about them getting stuck on wavemakers and they arent very reliable due to the on and off wear and tear? The forum i read it in suggested www.oceanflo.com it stated that these mods were better and worked on a wavemaker with no noise or locking up. they are a little more pricey but all that had them were happy and would go back. they also have a warrenty, do the regular mjmods.com have one?? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I want 2 or 3 of the mods but want to do it right the first time and do run a wavemaker. thanks!!

And since our cutoff time is Sunday Midnight (that right?), then we need to start shelling out the cash now. How much is this going to be total per each kit? Or do you just want to order them and then take people's money at the meeting? I am sure that if someone who ordered does not have the money, someone else will take it...

I don't really care what we do. A decision just needs to be made so we can get this done in time.

And please all, if you want on this, copy and paste the above list right so that we can keep things organized...

ocean flow looks like a nice kit. comes with a whole impeller kit.

but... it is 60.00 each.

I think for this order I will do the cheaper ones.

If other people want the ocean flow kits, make a note, and I'm sure we can make an order for them also.

i wasnt implying that we or anyone should get the ocean flo kits, i was just wondering if the mjmods could be set on a wavemaker like the ocean flo's can and if they have a warrenty like the ocean flow's?? i just want to do this one time, i dont want to order the mjmods and have to upgrade them due to imcompatibillity with a wavemaker? sorry for any misunderstanding, any imput would be great. thanks!!!

The mjmod kits don't have a warranty, they are completely DIY, they just provide all of the parts. I've heard people use them on wavemakers, and yes like anything else, the more on and off you have on a pump the more wear and tear you have. The other downsides to timers with the mods is dependant on well the build is done. People complain of chattering on the start due to the AC current and the propensity of the prop to start in the wrong direction in which it hits the stopper and corrects itself. The thing others seem to be doing to randomize the flow is attaching them to seaswirls or some other kind of oscillating apparatus.

Just my summary on my readings of the issue.

Dave

thanks for the answers DJC. i think i'll get the oceanflo's. i like the warrenty and a company that stands behind their product.

I personally did the mod with a kit from mjmods a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't that difficult, the new black shroud looks great and although I had to rebuild the impellar assembly to make it quiet, it was worth it. You can't beat the end result for the cost IMO. It took me a few days to find the right flow spot and I did remove a few soft corals to my seahorse tank because I had no areas of low enough flow while the mod was on. Now that I've got it in its spot, it's great and everything is adjusting to the flow nicely.

Dave

Each kit should come with:

-shroud with locking baseplate
-centering cap for the shroud
-vortex shield
-nylon washer
-Kapton thrust washer
-Dumas 3004 prop
-100mm” of 2.5mm 316 food grade stainless steel rods (cut to the right size for the mod)
-6” of .180 OD/.102 ID Carbon Fiber tubes
-6" of .098 Carbon fiber rods
-6” of Ridged airline tubes
-6” of acrylic rod for use as stopper
-6” of soft airline

They have other parts available. I don't mind ordering them also, just let me know what you want.
