MaxiJet sureflow 1600gph?

Although 10X the stock flow rate of the MJ1200 is a very bold claim.

Even with a the largest propellers that the MJ can spin (Dumas 3004 or Octura 1440) the flow is at best 2500 gph or so. The Octura 1440 being the stronger of the two will not spin reliably on some MJ pumps. Makes me wonder how EcoSystems is managing to get 3000 gph out of their mod.

I wish the stores get more Sureflow kits in. I am setting up a 125g and need a couple more to complete my gyre flow setup.

Been running a couple in my 55g for a while now and they're running great.

dh- i'm probably going to get the sure flow, but i'm just concerned about the attachment, b/c of the old mod attachment already glued into place. do you recommend using acetone to disolve the crazy glue to get it off, or just buy new maxijets?

I'm planning on controlling modified MJ-600 powerheads with a Reef Fanatic Wave Creator. The powerheads will switch on and off every 7.5 minutes on average.

-Are modified MJ-600 powerheads quiet?
-Will modified MJ-600 powerheads work on a wavemaker?
-What happens to other powerheads (Tunze 6025, etc.) when they are placed on a wavemaker? (I know this voids the warranty but I'd like to know what else can happen.)

Thanks!

-Yes
-Yes albeit there may be some noise if and when the propeller hits the stopper to reverse itself.
- The Tunze nano 6025 can spin in reverse since there is no stopper there.

Try superglue debonder (hobby shop) it worked for me.

Hey dhnguyen, do you know of any differences between the old and new maxijets? I just realized I have a couple that are 5+ years old. They've got nice heavy gauge cords and they look a little stouter than the current ones.

no difference as far as I can tell other than the heavier gauged cord. The heavier (re: thicker and stiffer) cord makes it kind of a PITA to mount the pump though

also, will the 900 and 1200 produce the same flow with the sureflow?

If you use the impeller magnet (MJ600) that comes with the kit they will produce the same flow.

There is a big difference in strength between the MJ900 and a MJ1200 impeller magnets though

i guess i'm s.o.l. since i already used the magnets for the mod. i might as well go with the 900 since it uses less power

I am planning a gyre flow as well. I plan to reverse the gyre flow periodically (clockwise, then counterclockwise). What controllers are you using or planning to use?

does anyone know where I could either:
A. order the sureflow 1600, or
B. When the ECO MOD is supposed to be coming out?
I lost my closed loop pump about a week ago so I'm a little low on flow and my sps are starting to take a little hit! I need something fast!
