well i have an acrylic tank its pretty thick im going to put a some plactic in between the magnets i guess to spread out the preasure

I have looked and looked, but I can not find anywhere that the glass thickness is told for a 180 gallon tank.... AGA RR...

well i just placed an order for two. going to mod two 1200s of the 4 i have in a standard 75 gal tank.

if my rock work is all on the back corner to corner. would you recommend to put the mod 1200s in the back corners pointing towards the front center or opposite end front corner or move the mod 1200 to the front corner and point towars the opposite end corner?

Couple questions:

-can i use the 85# magnets on a wavbox? I was thinking of putting them inside the box, and the others outside the box. It cost 35$ for 1 wavbox magnet, and you need 2. And thats for the weaker ones.

-When you replace the propeller on the surflow kit to a dumas, do you need to glue anything or cut?

-Why dont you guys do this with the maxi jet magents. Open the back cover of the pump by lifting it with a flat head screw driver near the spot where the cord enters. Place the magent inside the back and put the plastic plate back on. Then you dont have to glue it. And ruin the look, or risk it falling off. Possibly it wont fit inside though.

Cool mod :D

only problem i see with prying off the top of the MJ would be that the pump could just fall off the top then. top would still be magneted to the glass but the pump would be flailing around. but if the magnet fit inside and was strong enough to hold it up I would say just silicon the top on.

other problem that might occur would be if that magnet messed up the magnetic field that is used to spin the propeller. don't know if its close enough to mess with that at all though.

good ideas!

You only need 1 for the tunze wavebox. No need for the bottom one and buy the small magnet unless you have a really thick tank.

http://www.gaussboys.com/ndfeb-magnets/D1803E.html hey everyone is getting these crazy pull stength magnets do you think the 20lb ones would work? if you out 2 together is it a total of 40lbs? or is it only 20 due to the north anbd south pole stuff, also i got my mods in mail today and ill have some pics of my idea that kinda works, but add a magnet to my idea and there is no way the ph will fall off.

here are a few pics all i did was use the suction cups but i also bent the hanger to hold tank edge just in case it ever fell off. only thing i dont like is the fact that sometimes the suction cup gives out and it leans(but wount fall). im thinking about adding a magnet and no matter what it will never fall off even if my 3 year old son rips off the magnet. maybe it will sparks some ideas lol

and if anyone gets these 80lb magnets let me know how difficult it is to pull off, of course im curios if my 3 year old could yank it off and than try to put back and smash my tank :)

I have the 60lb and 80lb mags. For a 125g with 1/2" glass i like the 80lbs as teh 60's work but move very easy. For under 1/2" i would definately suggest the 60lbs or less depending on thickness. The 80lb mags can be removed fairly easy. And i do think my 3yr old boy could do it......if he really wanted to.

I'm surprised, i got some that are 80 or maybe 85 pounders and encased them in another, thicker layer of epoxy and then put them on either side of my 1/2" acrylic tank wall, and they're still not easy to get apart. They're almost a full inch apart and I'd be very surprised if a child could pull one off the tank.

.....maybe not the average 3yr old boy, but mine's a haus :D

Be very careful with these magnets, they are really strong! I damaged a pair because i left them separated and two close together then all of the sudden they crashed in to each other chipping the expoxy. It was also very difficult for me to pull them apart, i must be a wimp :)

Definitely have to be very careful when installing these to your tank because i'm sure they can crack the glass.

I got so nervous i have yet to test them on the tank :)

i have the 85lbs ones they are very hard to pull apart from the tank if you pull, but if you slide the magnet to the side then it slides out pretty easy, when i put it on my tank i just slide it in place i just dont hook them up head on, that would be tank suicide.

I've used this stuff before to make cast around the magnets. It makes them easier to hold. Just use a small container to make the molds. Put a little of the resin in and let it harden up for a few minutes and then put the magnet in and cover with more resin. Works really well but be sure not to make them too thick so as to effect the pull force.

You can find this at craft stores like Michaels.
