Here's a good trick to find out too. Take a magnet to the shaft, ifit sticks to the magnet even slightly then chances are high it is not 316 grade SS

I have 2 maxi jet 1200's with the sureflow 1600 installed they have been riunnning for about 1 week now and they both make a god aweful HUM noise off and on every 20 secs or so , any ideas how to fix?

Yes, I made mention of my concern in regards to the quality of SS that they are using and said that others have had the same problems. Regardless, i'll still probly end up with having to replace the shafts with a carbon fiber one.

Mine did the same thing on my 1200. Its been running now for maybe 3-4 weeks, and its ALMOST gotten to the point where its completely silent. It'll hum for a couple of seconds, once every 10-15 mins.

I just ordered the MaxiJet sureflow 1600gph, am I going to have a problem with the hmm, if so who am I calling with the issue? Just starting to prepair myself

I think i need to make a grill for the front of the shroud. I almost shredded up my lawnmower blenny. I had my finger on the switch to turn on the powerheads, and right before I was gonna push it, I saw the blenny sitting inside of the shroud. So, something to think about. Especially if you run them on a timer/wavemaker.
