MaxiJet sureflow 1600gph?

 Ok ok...

To do this you would have to cut out the built in stopper on the shroud of either the GS2 or Sureflow kits. SO do this at your own risk :)

Then drill 2 small holes going through the shroud at about where the stopper was.

Use some fishing line and thread it through the holes and tie knots at the end to keep the line tight and in place. Voila!

I did this with my own MJ mods and Tunze nanos before with great success.

This is the so called softstart stopper if you will :)

OK So the fishing line goes straight across the shroud? Is there a chance the prop could go beyond the line, get caught up in it or I’m I not picturing this correctly!! You must do a lot of fishing up there!! By the way I just looked up "Carpe Narem"!!

Man you guys are killing me.... I don't have those mods with me anymore they were made for friends

Here's a rough drawing of what I am talking about

The redline in front is the fishing line going through the shroud.

The prop can't go beyond the line, the tension in the line itself will stop the prop from spinning and it will then be sucked right back in by the motor magnetic force.

My replacement props came today. Pulled the old ones off and the new slip right on. Noise is gone and no longer have the annoying hum. Got another 2 problems with them now. Its not issues with the 1600 kits now but with my placement in the tank. The new props put out so much more flow that I had to re-aim them some. My sand bed started flying around and digging a hole in the middle of the tank. I use southdown stand and I guess its really easy to lift up with some water force behind it.
Second problem is that one was too close to the surface and it creates a water vortex once in awhile and spews out some air bubbles. Moved it down from the surface another inch or so and it seems to have taken care of the problem. I`m very happy with the kits now :)

hopefully my replacements come in today or hopefully by the weekend. cant wait!

i have the same problem with the mod creating so much flow that a vortex shows up out of nowhere and shoots air thru out the tank

i need to find another way to keep the mj pump up there near the top but no vortex. im to the point of addind a bit more of cover to the shroud to stop the bubbles. its going to get much worse with 2000 gph!

Dhnguyen awsome job on the mod man you are the man.

Phyxius, pelochas but those are good problems to have :D :D just moe the mod down and point it upward, their is really no need to have it that close to the water surface.

The shroud, the cover, the jacket, the grill, etc...

how much to send them to you and have you mod them?

I got two Sureflow 1600 kits for my 120 gallon. I have them down low in the back of the tank sweeping in between the overflows. They really move some water.

I wasnt sure if I wanted to put them on a wave timer, but I dont think its going to be necessary for right now.

I'm happy with them and dont hear any noise from them.

So is the new gulf stream swivel mount similar to the sureflow swivel mount? And would it be easy to just add a magnet to to make it a magnet mount?

I'm pretty sure putting these kits on a timer is going to put a toll on them, i really dont know how the wave timer works but if you have to restart the pump often, then i dont think the chattering of the prop tying to spin the right way is worth it.

There are some people using these mods on a seio wavetimer which only varies the power of the pump and doesn't actually turn the pump on and off. My biggest question is if the seio wave timers are turning out to be good quality and actually lasting.

I got the new 2000+ props and tried them on the mj1200. Lots of clattering. I think my mj needs a cleaning. The props are huge. I think I had trouble with it spinning such large props in the past. Maybe its time to get new ones.

maaxii can you tell me what MJ pump are you using for the Sureflow ?

Hey NBR,
I'm using MJ 1200's for the pump. I'm pretty happy with the flow they provide. I might try and go with the bigger props if they sell them seperately.....but not really sure if I need to.

The tank is an Oceanic RR 120 w/ dual overflows in the corners of the tank. I have two Tunze Stream 6000's (up 1850 gph) on a 7095 controller, and the sump return is a PanWorld 100PX-X pumping about 960 gph (as per RC calculator) through a WavySea Plus.

Nick

where are u guys placing your MJs? I have a 180 6ft wide tank, with a center overflow and 3 returns that are on the top half of the tank. I also have a wavysea in the center of the tank that sweeps the whole tank for counter current.
Now should i place my 2 MJs in the corner back facing the front center or on the side closer to the front, facing each other?
