Sterilize a needle, wipe the bubble area w/ rubbing alcohol and let it dry. Lance the bubble with the needle. This should release the pressure from the blood blister, (yes, you will bleed, but it wont hurt) and will actually relieve the pain from the swelling.

Only if have posted this warning 2 days earlier and you'd saved me some pain. lol

Again I have to warn folks about how incredibly strong these magnets are. You CAN and WILL injure yourself if you are not careful just ask flameangel88 :)

As for what magnets to use, go to the first page of this thread. You don't NEED to 80lb ones (re: overkill), these are what I use on mine

http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=BX0X06BR

Basically one on the inside the tank and another like it on the outside.

Since the outside magnets will not be in water, there is no need for corrosion resistant coating, I opted to use the cheaper non coated ones instead.

Just a thought in response to you dhnguyen, some people may want to get two coated magnets so that they have an option to mount the maxijets on their overflow box as well as the glass, at least that is what I am doing. Just an idea for future flexibility of mounting these pumps.

didn't think of that superedge88,thanks for the opinion.

Okay - got the mag links (thanks) help a goob out - what size for 3/4" acrylic? Will these work?

Great Product. I just put mine together and used the magnet kit I had from an old MJ. This thing pumps out some serious water. Nice.

MJ 1200 with the SureFlow 1600 kit. I am telling you this is such a simple fix for the MJ. I know there are other mods on RC but this one was on sale from MarineDepot and works just as it says. The directions are simple to follow.

A gyre flow is a circular flow. I plan to alternate my flow between clockwise and counter-clockwise directions:

dhnguyen,

I'm with you regarding controllers. I can't find a pump controller that can switch the flow every 15 minutes. The longest switching period is 7.5 minutes on the Reef Fanatic. The fast switching will void the warranties on many pumps (i.e., Tunze 6025).

I will probably place my pumps on the X10 system that operates my lighting circuits (12-hour daytime actinic & 12-hour reverse daylight photoperiod). That means my pumps will alternate the gyre flow every 12 hours.

I hope my sand doesn't pile up too badly over a 12-hour period. I'll probably use a smaller pump (MJ-600) for a gentler flow.

In this case, if I plan to have 4 pumps, should I put 2 on each ,side by side?

Why switch the flow back and forth?? What would be wrong with both pumps on at the same time? You would still have flow in either diresction and when they meet, the flow would disperse in other directions. More like dead places. Thats what I'm going to try to do. I'll have three GS2's on 1200's and I'm going to place two on one side equal height and place the third one on opposite side in the middle and lower than the other two. That way the flow wil be choatic, in every direction. That's also like 7500 gph in a 120!! That's a lot of flow. I'm going to hook all three pumps to a rehnostat and with that I will be able to turn down the flow when feeding time and when the lights shutoff. ?My GS2's should come tomorrow!!!! Can't wait to see if this works

If this helps anyone:

I got 2 Sureflow kits this week. I found they run quieter using the original Maxijet shaft ends (the red and black rubber things). The Maxjets ends are made out of a stiffer rubber that seems to keep vibrations down. At least in my experience.

I have a g2 coming in tomorrow, will post my thoughts. The eco and sureflow are still doing well. Both have the slighest bit of rust, but my regular maxi's have pretty much the same. Its not effecting there performance yet. As for the magnets. You don't need the 80lb ers unless your glass or acrylic is more than 1/2" thick, so in the 3/4" case i'd go with the 80's.

Interesting. Has sureflow started selling there high flow impelers yet?

I've heard maybe by December the sure flow kit will have two different size props so it can be interchanged

i received my new GSII today and wow, great flow. mod only took a few minutes to do. i don't have it in my tank yet b/c i need to re-aquascape to accomodate my new flow:D, but i put it in the ro/di holding tank and no noise, just lots of flow. i put 1 of my koralia #4' s next to it and even with the special adapter the hydor has the new mj almost made the hydor seem like it was pumping backwards lol.

What a great day, my new mj mod today and some new T5's from Reef Geek due in tomorrow. I love this hobby:dance:

Just received the 2 GS2 and look forward to installing it tonight. The bracket and suction cups feel solid and hope I don't have to play with those magnets again.

I hate to highjack this thread with another product, but because of this thread I bought the Triton's. They came in today and first off price per dollar on this product is pretty good considering what you get per unit and the beefyness of the plastic they use to build them. The suction cup mount will have to go but...will incorporate it in a magnet mount somehow because the swivel arm has a real good degree of positioning the maxijet angle wise.

I received my Triton GS2s today also, but now I am waiting on the maxijets to come in...I too think they look well made and the ball joint looks great too...keep me updated how they perform when you all get them in your tanks...

i don't think its a hijack at all, this thread has been great for discussing diffences in the available mj mods and solving some of the common issues that come with a mod kit
