I hope they come up with a half size. my display is only 8" wide but 4' long. The Gyre XF130 is too long but a half size Gyre would work well.
You'd be ok with the 130.My tank is a 40x20x20 65g(ish). 250l
My Rockwork is 3 reefpillars in the center .. Would you recommended this or the 150?
With the new suspension mount for the 150, noise has been completely eliminated, and with it being adjustable it won't be too much for your tank. Thanks for reviews, but I lost anyway:headwallblue:
having 48x18x16, which will be more suitable to run
I assume than having more powerful unit and running it at lower output will reduce noise.
But will be 150 to much for my tank, even running at 20% capacity for example?
thanks
They will be so far as I've heard, but in the mean time I know of at least one person successfully running theirs without the second rotor. From what I've read they will be releasing a cover plate that will eliminate one of the paddles on the 130 essentially making it just over half size.
Nice, got a video?I installed one top horizontal on each side of my 48" 90 gal DT. Set at constant 80% and cycling on/off each minute has really helped to eliminated dead spots. The suspension I have now is incredible. This setting creates a lot of flow at the sand bed and has everything rocking back and forth.
Depends on what you mean by 'thick' acrylic, how thick are we talking? The stronger magnet mounts are good for 1.25".Will the magnet be strong enough on thick acrylic - trying to decide if I want to give one a try for my 510
Mine started out loud as hell, but after about a week and a half the noise disappeared, though on pulse mode at 100% power I can still hear a very faint whirr. The 150 with the new mount will have zero noise once the motor breaks in. If you have a lot of rock or very dense SPS growth then I would use the 150, but if your tank is more open then the 130 is right for you.How silent is Gyre XF130? It's enough for 90G tank?
I have around a dozen species of snails in my tank, the smallest of which are Euplica scripta and 'dwarf' cerith snails. Both are breeding for me and I see them regularly getting and around both Gyres in my tank (the 130 and a 150) and have never had a single one touch the blades. How about snail breaking the impellers?
How about a 93 cube (30" X 30" X 24"H)? Its an sps tank with a gig and ritteri nem. Should I go with the 130 or the 150? Thanks
just throwing an update in for you guys... i contacted coral vue this morning trying to get an update on the advanced controller (i have been waiting for it to come out before i order). They advised they still do not have a date but hope its out soon. They also confirmed the new controller will work with current gyre xf's.... just means you would have to buy it separately and no idea how much controller by itself will cost.
I'm personally not sure if the two will be the same. The 'advanced' controller is supposed to enable control of multiple Gyres, but beyond that I don't have any data. It doesn't make sense to me to make a fancy new (probably expensive) controller with, well, the controller built-in just to also have it connect to an Apex and then completely bypass the internal controller and only use it as an expensive cable to send power and a PWM signal to the pump motor. The Apex connection, I think, will be a separate entity altogether, but that is just my speculation. It would make the most sense and cost the least. When you say "advanced controller" are you talking about the ability to connect to an Apex?

No, my tank is really too shallow to do a vertical gyre and it work well. With the 130, it didn't give adequate flow in vertical, and the 150 is a bit too long and shoots water up out of my tank lol.Hi jedimasterben: I assume you have both XF-150 and XF-130 installed in your tank. Have you tried running them in an alternate way, one horizontal and the other one vertical?
I've had all three on my 80. Started with three MP10wES, then two Tunze 6095, then two MP40wES and an MP10wES, then the MP10 died leaving only the two MP40, and then I switched to the Gyre, and by far I've had the best flow with it.Thanks to Jedi and Steal.
I'm in the middle of buying equipment for a 120g tank. I think the next decision that I need to make is whether I get one of these, a VorTech or a Tunze.
