Maxspect LED owners!!!

Thanks for the pic SimonSKL

It would be nice if all the LED's in this system were wired this way... It would make it a less tedious task to achieve user preferred color balance. Plug & Play!!! :thumbsup:

Will give it a shot but have to figure out a way for you guys to go through the vendor or something besides me as I do not feel like getting banned or this thread closed so lets end this topic for now. Was just excited about the prospect.

fish-street now lists "V2.0 160W G2 released: Stable timer and fan controller". Anybody know what this means? Has anybody had problems with their fan or timers?

Interesting note. No issues with my fans, however I have noticed that if I do not program both timers exactly, they can be off a few seconds even when the clocks are set at exactly the same time. Wonder if that is the issue. All I do to fix it, is go back and re-set the clocks equally, pressing both buttons at the same time to match the pair after I set the light timers.

Is the fan speed supposed to be variable?

First off... Everyones tank with these look amazing. Second, I must be smoking crack b/c I can't seem to find/read where to buy and how much and which ones to get for my 70 gal...

Ideas?

I will not pay too much attention about this. G2 and V2 are the same. There has been no discussion or news at any of the discussion forums in HK and China about major improvement to the G2 models. Also it does not make sense on why only 160W have been improved. They are all built using the same controller.

Ideas?

1) Get off the pipe!!! :bigeyes: :lolspin: :lol:

2) Post your tank dimensions & what you plan on keeping. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will recommend the appropriate size.

3) Go to fish-street dot com.

4) Post your experience with these LED's in this thread. I need to research all I can before I buy mine! By the way, I'm planning on ordering two G2-160W units for my 48x18x24 90G.

If you google maxspect led you can find it. If we keep telling people where to buy these this thread will get closed.

Some of us have had our Maxspect LEDs for a while, what improvement would you like to see in this product? For me, I like to see the moonlights on its own timer. There is no need to have moonlights on after 7am until my first group of lights come on at 11a. I know they are just 1W LED but its still a waste of electricity.

Hi, I am from Chennai India and currently have a 60 x 24 w x 20 h mixed reef with mainly LPS and softies with a few sps close to the top. From all the max spect threads, this seems like a good choice especially since temperatures here go upto 40 C in summer. Also the pricing seems ok to me and I could get mine from singapore.
I was wondering how long the cord from the driver to the lights are and whether the timers on the drivers have battery backup as we experience fairly frequent power cuts here.
I was thinking of going for 2 x 160 watt model. Do you think that will be fine for a mixed reef with sps on the top and what distance should the lights be mounted above the water level. Thanks in advance

From those that already own them, what would you recomend for a 120g- dim 4 x 2 x 2? I want to keep a fully mixed reef with clams, rics, zoas, and lps on bottom and Lps and sps on top half. Maybe a carpet anemone or a rbta in there too.

Thanks in advance

I'm also waiting for my G2 160 and I think that this guys lack imagination.

The dimmer that allows to program sunrises and sunsets, clouds passing by, changes of colour, moonphases... is not enough! :)

In real life (and I want the whole thing to be based on real life and than some more), the light we see comes from 3 sources:

- Sun;
- Sky;
- Light reflected from all things on the ground.

The last one, our tanks do naturally.

The Sky light (mix of 3W leds colours) should be done by well spread leds that change colour INDIVIDUALLY! This way the clouds could be passing by the tank smoothly. They would change colour and intensity. Can you imagine a soft shadow crossing the tank slowly according to the wind direction that day in your region? :)

The Sun should be done by a set 30 watt leds placed in an adjustable arch over the tank and some would turn on and off through out the day to simulate the changing position of the sun in the sky.

Here's an image:

And a video:

Maybe I should send this to some aquarium led manufacturers? I would be happy if they would send me their first prototype for testing :)

*LOL* Well have fun with that :) Corals and fish do not care about clouds passing over. Not that people lack imagination, it is that they lack the desire to build something that nets nothing for the consumer other than "look at my cool lights, they cost 10x more and simulate a cloud floating over the ocean"

But hey, if you create it, more power to ya :D

That's one thing about this hobby: it allows you to mix so many things in single hobby. One of them is the gadgets :)

But I really would love to see the shadows change position through out the day. That's something I would gladly be willing to pay a great extra.
