Maxspect LED owners!!!

Guys - for a 36x24x13, reckon a G2-170 would be enough for a heavy stocking of Acros and Clams?

Just ordered 2 x G2160w, Eric informs me that they should be shipped on Saturday... I can't wait for them to arrive and to get rid of the 12 Aquarays :)

I got a similar dimension with acros and clams, less wide, but taller. I got in on the 230w for better penetration and future upgrade proof. I like the option to dial it down.

Not sure if you guys saw my calculator, but I used the basics of it before I made it a little more fancy in determining whether or not to buy my maxspect leds lights. In fact, I built it specifically to analyze my overall tank efficiency with led lights compared to my old setup as I try not to make any decisions on hardware without basis or fact.

May help some of you on the fence about going led & the savings associated, or may cause you to turn away. Just depends on your current setup or if it is a brand new setup. Anyways it works pretty well for tank electrical cost calculations.

Sounds like you are saving a bundle on electricity by switching to LEDs and that doesn't include the cost of replacement bulbs.

Yes I am. In my setup, I took down my frag system so it helped even more. Cost justification may not be as good with other people removing single or dual halide systems unless they are 400W+ In my case, it was an easy decision.

So I'm ordering a 110 Watt G2 from FishStreet. They have spare LED bulbs for sale. Does it make more sense to order them ahead of time, or are they readily available in the U.S. or Canada? I was not sure whether to order spare LED bulbs because I thought they had a lifespan of many years.

I ordered spares to allow for adjustments in the color and to replace any potential DOAs. As I understand, they come with pigtails that allow for plug-n-play replacement (rather than having to solder in new LEDs.) I assumed replacement parts would not be available in the US as I don't think there is a US distributor.

They finally got back to me with terrible news, they are not looking to get the new 2.0 versions of the G-1 until after 5-8-10. I placed my order 4-12-10.

Just my luck...

Damn it! He refuses to send mr confirmation and I emailed yesterday! Ahhh
Good News- Ordered a G2-230 on April 9, got my shipping confirmation yesterday...
Bad News- I am APO so once the package arrives in the US it has to be reshipped through USPS which could take another 4-6 weeks!:sad1:

@Nereaga: surely they're not still making the G1 units do you mean G2, I just ordered a couple of G2 160w yesterday and was told they'd be shipped on Saturday.

cheers, David.

Yes g-2 but it's the 60w unit and maxspect is upgrading them to version 2. That is what Eric told me last night. Gonna be til mid may til I receive it.

Hopefully they will be shipping the G2 170 orders too - My Apogee PAR meter is due in today so I can get comparative data between my AI's, the MH's that the Maxspect are going to replace and the G2 170 itself :)
