Maxspect LED owners!!!

Hello friends,

I'm from Brazil and a one of the pioneers in the use of maxspect in my country.

Sorry for my shortcomings in the English language.

I have two maxspect g2 160w semi led to my tank of 1.60 m x 0,60 m x 0,60 m.

I have two questions:

Do compensates for changing the 14 semi LEDs for 3w white LED Cree?

Compensates buy MAXSPECT LENS KIT?

There is gain for corals?

I have kept the scheme:

Blue LED: 12 hours
3w white led: 10 hours
LED 30w: 8h

Is this correct or should I change this time lighting scheme?

I Needed assistance from maxspect and was very well served by Eric, who joined my ballast when it burned. I am very pleased with the after-sales service and warranty.

Here are some pictures of my reef tank with five months of mounting maxspect g2 160w.

Oi. Bem-vindo a ReefCentral.

I am assuming these are the 90* and not the 60* optics. Is this w/ the 30W LEDs on? Do you know how much the picture changes with only the 3W LEDs on? Thanks.

It's the 60 degrees optics, but I didn't install them on all my bulbs, see my tank thread to see the photos when I install optics on my fixtures.

This is basically what it looks after installing lens, only the middle 5 group per fixture were using lens, the rest only have the reflective cups installed:

I didn't have any 30w, I've 4x 15w instead.

The overall photo above is taken when all the 15w's turned off.

Hiya Guys,

I'm planning a 39"x30"x22" upgrade soon and am considering MaxSpect, what unit(s) am i likely to need if I want to keep a mix of SPS and LPS?

Depends on how you're going to do your rockworks, you'll need either 2x 160w (like I did) or 1x 230w for LPS+SPS.

Without optics they should be able to cover the 30" length of your tank, but if you want to utilize the entire 39"x30" area you might need more fixtures (i.e. 2x 230w).

Found it, I think. Blown fuse on the driver module for the blue LED's. No time to work on it tonight, I'll get it out in the morning and play with it then.

Not a bad design really inside the control box. Very modular. A bit too much surface mount stuff for my taste, but you can easily swap all of the driver modules with just a screwdriver. Timer control board is separate too. Of course, this is all meaningless without a parts source or the ability to do SMD re-work. At least the stuff I would think is most failure prone such as the capacitors are thru-hole and easy to replace.

I woke up to a dead fan in my G2-160. Has anyone else had to replace one? This was bought back in 4/10 through Fish Street. I'm hoping it won't take weeks to get a replacement.

Fins Reef comes through again - He's shipping me a replacement fan :)

Thanks Brian!

Fan should be quite easy to replace, the whole design looks like it's built to be repairable. I've got a replacement driver board on the way for mine, it's just two screws to swap the module.

I like how each LED bank has it's own integrated power supply / fuse / rectifier / filter on it. Same with the controller board, it's got its own independent power supply too. This way if one goes out, you only lose that section, not the whole LED array.

I'm planning on having a mountain/volcano type rock work arrangement in the middle of the tank so the absolute edges will be rock free. So I guess all the coral will too be toward the centre of the tank too. Am i correct in asuming that I'd be better off with 2x 160s in stead of 1x 230?
