Maxspect LED owners!!!

dumb question:
Where or what website can i purchase some leds replacement on the maxspect?

What do you recommended color combo nation on a Maxspect 160w G2 400?

and last question, is it much better to get the optical for the unit?

I am curious about the color rendition on the 15Watt 16k bulbs if anyone would mind posting a picture.

@Acrodctro- I know you have the unit and I am thinking of getting two units for a 36x24x18 can you give an idea on how white or blue those emitters look?

thanks in advance

What size model would you guys recommend for a 36"x16"x16"?

Also, when will the G3 be release??

Can't help you with the release date for the g3 but two g2 160w would go really well on that size tank. They would also allow for any future upgrades or downgrades.

Hey all looking to maybe buy one of these for my 50 gallon tank replacing my t5's. The tank dimensions are 36x18x18 sps dominate. If I could get away with buying just one of these units which one would work the best?

I personally would go with a 170 watt unit since it is 32" in length would cover your whole tank.

Just got my 2nd 170 in on my tank and now it' finally installed i got to say it looks 10x better than my 2x250mh + 4x56watt T5 actinic combo. The even light distribution around my 84x18x24 inch tank is awesome no dead spots at all. Now to change out some of these whites for some cree royal blue to get a bluer look than what it looks like now. Currently it's got a slight purplish hue to it.

Just got my 160W delivered yesterday and now i'm thinking about adding optics. This might be a silly Q, but can someone tell me the difference between the 60 degree and 90degree optics?

I know they both focus light but not too sure what the operational difference is.

As I understand it, the 90 degree optics will disperse the light wider, but you'll lose some PAR. The less the degree of the optics, the more focused the light and the more PAR you have at the bottom of the tank.

i order mine from aquarium specialty. in regards to optics it's mainly to disperse the light in a 90 degree spread or 60 degree spread. with 60 degree spread you get more lights focus on a certain spot.

think of the optic as a point on the middle of a line. a flat line has a 180 deg angle. as the line's end points come together (using the middle point as the vertex) the degree of the angle decreases. as the angle decreases the usable light is concentrated into a smaller but more powerful beam. THerefore a optic of 90 deg while have a wider light coverage but the light concentration will be less than a 60 deg optic which will have a smaller light coverage but a higher light concentration. OPtics are like little reflectors but at different sizes to better accomodate the different needs of the user.

Just heard news that pricing for the G3 will be released early June, hopefully they will also be available that same month. I'll have to hold off on the G2. :)

Asureef I just got off the phone with Brain at Fins Reef he did say he most likely will be getting G3s in by June 8. From what he says the G3 will have more options and better coverage, I only hope the price doesn't get too high. Any way got on the waiting list for the G3s, my electric bills in Ca. are ridiculous makes the investment in LEDs a good option.More $ for animals.
