Maxspect LED owners!!!

What do you guys think about a configuration as such?

Well, back again with another problem report, still diagnosing it.

Lights came on today, and immediately flashed a "HOT" and "99C" warning. It's obviously a false reading. Eventually I was able to isolate it to the blue light circuit inside the LED array. This is the third time I've had a problem with this circuit, the previous two were a blown driver module fuse and a bad driver module (speaking of the internal "A" module inside the control box.)
After I got this figured out, I also found the 30W circuit wasn't firing at all.

Swapped cords to try it with the other control box, and isolated the problem to the blue circuit in the LED array. But now I've got no 30W LED's on either control box. Found a blown fuse in the "B" module inside the control boxes.

Waiting to hear from Brian at Fins Reef regarding what may be up with the LED array, but I'm still going to keep digging on my own as well. I'm also just going to order me up some of those pigtail fuses to keep on hand. They seem to be the most common problem that I'm coming across, and they're pretty easy to change. Eventually the warranty is going to run out, and I'll be stuck repairing them on my own.... might as well come up with a procedure for it sooner rather than later.

Odd....pulled the "B" module, which powers the 30W circuit, and the over-temp problem went away. Blues and Whites running normal now.

I wonder if there's a short somewhere between the blues and the 30's inside the array. Will look there next.

How's the workmanship on the Mazarra? i know it's made in China, but how's the construction? are modules plastic? does everything fit well together?

Hi guys does anyone know where I can get the lens kits for the G2 160? I've tried a well known shop in China but he's out of stock currently?

Thanks,

Mike

FWIW - I played with the Mazarra a litle bit at MACNA - The overall built quality impressed me as being much higher than my G2-160.

I just ordered the mazarra I should be getting them monday i'll give a full review and post pics

The mazzara looks sweet. Priced pretty respectable too. Could come down a bit though!:lol2:

Do you know on a 66 x 36 footprint, not too concerned with 6" on the bottom near the acrylic as there is nothing there if 3 or 4 of these would be needed. Prefer 3 opposed to 4. mixed reef, SPS ~ 50%

Hi guys, I have the opportunity to buy a G2-110w.
Would this be enough for a LPS/SPS?Clam 46bowfront?(36"L x 15"w x 21"h)(1"Sandbed)
I'm guessing it would be the equivalent of 4x39w T5 which is enough light, but wanted to ask owners to make sure.
TIA!

that depends on how you mount it. If you are using the rails that come with it, they put it real close to the surface, would give you the coverage of about a 2' cube. Since it's a bowfront, I'm guessing you are hanging it, then it becomes a matter of how far off the surface. I've got a 60w maxspect unit that probably is 6"x6" and it's over a 20long just fine, hung about 10" up. I would say with 110w hung up you might could prob cover 36"-40"+ by 24". I've found the units to be pretty powerful.
