Wow, these look fun, but I can decide between 2 P-series or 3 S-series. I wonder if the rebels being driven at 1000 ma restricts which leds you can replace. Bridgelux looks like they should be pushed only at 700?! Since most of the replacement colors are bridgelux they would be over driven in the rebel slots and most likely damage the diode. An S series with XM'ls and rebels might be plenty for a tank thats only 20 inches high. Hopefully we'll get more info about coverage soon so we can all start making decisions. Those picture from aquarama have me thinking you might need 1 unit per
12-18"s for good even coverage.

I really have no idea, they didn't list the information on their website, but I think by using different optics it'll cover different sizes of tanks.

i pre-ordered a set/trio of the P series to go over a 36" x 18" tank. funny thing i noticed is it doesnt add up to 60W, or 50W...just a bit short. im usually extremely thrifty and would definately have waited for the more economical S's. i think the differences between the bridgelux and philips vs. the 'holy grail' cree may be in our heads. the LED manufacturers have stepped up there game, technology wise so im sure the end product(s) are much better than say a year ago. im pretty excited to get ahold of these.

rodneyri, If you here anything in Australia, please let us know. It would help us make our decisions here in the states.

sure will, i wont be getting one personally only due to the fact i have a vertex illumina already, but this light does look very interesting.

a few down here have their lights on pre-order so hopefully some news this week or next

Anybody know or have an estimate as to what current draw it will take to run 3 of the P-series modules? I have it on order and I'm worried that it'll trip my breaker if it takes more than 10A to run the whole unit.

Would seem a bit outlandish that a 180W LED system would require more current than my Maristar (dual 250W HQI/dual T5) fixture (total Wattage of 608W [250x2 and 54x2]).

Anybody have a best guess estimate as to current draw on just one P series module?

Cheers,
John

I spoke to salty supply guy 9 or 10 days ago. At the time he said he would have them next week (3 days ago they should have got their shipment). Should be anyday now.

Got a call from saltysupply today. Looks like they will be getting them in soon, still don't have an exact date... apparently there was a slight hang up as Maxspect needed to modify the bracket a little bit for rimless aquariums. :)

Cheers,
John

eagerly waiting to see the new fixture, so that I can finally decide between, this, AI and Vertex Illumina.
