Maxspect Razor

i want to get two of these for my standard 75 gal reef ready. so my problem is i cant hang them how can i use the legs? there is a brace in the middle and it might look crappy that way what about front to back with the light? anyone got pics of a 75 gal using them?

I have the 20.5 120W over a Nuvo 38g and I really like it so far. Except one thing. There is a high pitched whine when it is turned up above around 55% on either color... Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone know a solution?

Also, my tank is a FOWLR for now and I just got my first fish yesterday. It is a blue/green chromis. What settings do you suggest I set my light on? I have been manualy adjusting and turning it on at about 10% whites and 10% blues then after 10-30 min I bump it up to 45% whites and 35% blues during the day then before night I bump it down for a few minutes then it goes off. Is that okay for a FOWLR?

What about when I get some basic corals? (hopefully in the next few weeks)

Thanks!

Does anyone have the Razor 27" units available now without a four week wait? I can assume since these units are selling like hotcakes finding discount coupons is going to be like out of the question from now on?

I want this light and was going to wait till my current t-5 bulbs were used up (about 4 more months), but I can't wait any longer after reading this thread lol. I just don't want to buy it at full price. Hope we can find some more discounts!

Hi Guys i think this was mentioned before but I just need to double check, the power input for the units can be either 110 or 230/240, correct, you just need to change the plug to suit your outlet style,? New to LED so not 100% sure on the set up process. units look great and I will be going to led now, got bulbs that need replacing which will run to the cost of at least one of these puppies so thought I would try it out

So, I apologize if this was covered in this thread - didn't see it, if so. I have a 90 gallon 48"X24"X18" and I am thinking two of the 160w 20.5 inch units would be good. Does that make sense?

I believe you meant 2 of the 120 watt 20.5 inch units =). Yes, that is what is recommended for a 90 gallon and is what I have over my 90 gallon. It looks great and I am very pleased with the results after just 1 month usage (noticeable growth and corals are coloring up already)! Merry Christmas!

Thanks, yes - I did mean 2 of the 120w 20.5" units. Glad to hear of your good experience. I don't even have the tank set up yet and have been researching lights. I've definitely decided on LEDs, but there is so much out there and not all good. I like the Kessils and originally planned on the A350w, but I really wanted to have the programmable cycles. Merry Christmas to you too!

I think you are making the right choice in getting leds, and specifically these leds, best bang for your buck, and by all means they are not cheap quality either. I can't wait to own these leds as well. I'm waiting for my T-5 fixture bulbs to burn out lol. I will be getting them sometime in the summer.

Thanks Paul - based on the research I've been doing - it seems like the best solution, especially given I haven't invested in T5s. Can't wait to get it set up.

My 3 maxspect razor are in will have them up in the canopy hopefully by tomorrow if I get my canopy interior finish up. :) can't wait

Just installed my new 27" 10K Razor and I have to say wow. Didn't realize my 192 Watt power compacts lacked definite colors! Brown pally's have vivid green centers I didn't know exisited. All my soft corals look much better color wise! I am wondering though if the LEDs will last longer if I don't run both channels at 100 percent say 80 to 90 percent max? Do LEDs have a different kind of visual light intensity compared to power compacts? To explain my 192 Watts of power compact seemed almost as bright when people said to ramp up the LEDs slowly from 40 percent to 80 that intensity is darker then the power compacts?

Finally got my Razor installed over the ADA 90P (essentially a rimless 40br), which is just starting out and is plumbed into another display tank. I'm having a really difficult time getting the colors right -- as so many people shooting under LEDs do -- but that didn't stop me from trying. I first mounted it on the legs that come with the light, which leave the fixture about 6" off the water or so, but I've read (in this thread and other places) that this thing is pretty intense so I'm going to raise it up 10" to get more coverage and allow for better viewing as you stand over the aquarium. Also, on that same note, I've capped the intensity at 45%W and 68%B. I'll raise it slowly, however, there aren't any corals that need high PAR in this display tank, this may very well be adequate long-term. Take a look:

Zibba,
Thanks for the pics,nice setup.
What are your first impressions colorwise compared to a T5 setup? how about disco effect, did moving up the fixture higher improve the LED overlap and minimize the disco ball?
Lastly,do you hear any high pitched noise?
Have ordered two 160W for my 180 gal that i should receive in Jan so latest batch info is welcome!

Cheers

"Ozarksreef" other than the Seriatopora, what other SPS are you keeping, and can you tell me about their overall experience in adapting to the Razor.
Im specifically interested in coloration, polyp extension, and encrustation.

Also, could you (if you have not already) post equipment specifications on this system?

Thank you!
