LED aclimation?

LED aclimation?

Just joining the razor (LED) club just orederd a 120w 16k for my 29H which is 30"L 12"W 18"H My tank consits of a semi mixed reef with some sps Zoas and leathers. I was hopeing someone could suggest a new lighting schedual for aclimation from my current T5 fixure which is 4 T5's at 31W each Two being 1000k and two 420 actinic. I no everyone has there own perferrd method of how to configure there light settings but as being new to LED any help would be great i dont want to burn my corals.

i pulled the trigger on the 120w 16000k model as well for my 32g 24x18x18 tank. will get it on friday; can't wait! will be replacing my current 4x24w t5 fixture.

Yea it was time for me 2 buy new bulbs at around 100 dollors and after reading everything i possibly could about every LED fixture i figured the razor was a nice start for led's and a nice price. Ill post pics of mine on the tank when it comes

I have my 16k 160 watt on a 54 corner/hex.. Loving it so far and coming from MH the corals are liking it as well. Tank is only 5 months old so doing well i think..

Really nice clean tank. The razor will make you happy more and more. :celeb1:

Received two of my three 20" 120w 16k fixtures and installed them on my 75g mixed reef tank.

Pros:
Aesthetically pleasing (actual fixtures)
Easy to program
Waypoint transitioning

Cons:
At 100% both channels (default setting, now at 36/50% for acclimation), there IS a pink hue
At 100%, the high-pitched whining sound coming from the fixtures
The tank-mounted leg assemblies are horrible. One was bent out of the box, and both fixtures are very awkwardly over the two open sections of my tank. The ONLY thing holding these from toppling into the water are the velcro strips. Also, these do not reach towards the support in the middle of the tank. So, there's a large shadow in that area requiring me to move my corals "into the light".

I'm mixed in whether want/do not want at this point. Sadly, I debated for months between these and the Evergrow Systems units and am leaning towards I made the poor choice.

Wow,

I have been using my two 27 16k for a month now on my 180 and i have not any issues like the one you are describing,it is dead quiet( but run at 60/50) because it is too bright, cool when running, and the legs are VERY stable.

You can perhaps try the hanging kit that comes with the fixture?

cheers!

I'm not at liberty currently for the hanging kit. Even then, the supplied legs should work on the application without modification or hassle.

I'll take pics tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing pics of your setup. If there are any defects or damage to the legs I'll get you replacements right away. Feel free to call or email me also.

Chris, any way to address the high-pitched whining at full intensity, or the "pink" hue?

I have never heard the high pitch or noticed a pink hue, can you make an audio/video and send to me? I have the same model, will play around with it tomorrow to see if I can notice this too.

Two 27" on a 48" tank?

Two 27" on a 48" tank?

If there was some overlapping off the edges....would this be feasible. It seems like there would be 3" past the edge of the tank of each side. However, the lights aren't right on the edge, so this seems possible.

I am asking to know if these are options when I am watching the used market. :)

What would be the negatives of this? To me it seems I could get a wicked amount of light by doing this.

My 120W 16k comes in the mail today, i will let you know how my expernece with the mounting legs go and see if i notice a high pitch at 100%.

Hey blue how old are you? Younger ears can hear higher pitched sounds. I am 23 and I can hear the sound too but it doesn't bother me because I only hear it when I'm right next to the fixture. I have the 10k model and no pink hue here.

I'm generally about a foot away from mine (sites below eye level on my 10g on my desk where I work) and there is absolutely no sound. The fans haven't run at all, and it isn't even warm to the touch :)

For those of you hearing the noise, are your fans running when the sound happens?

edit: I'm 25 BTW and I CAN hear those apps for mosquitos etc. for those who know what i'm talking about.
