Maxspect Razor

Here's my Maxspect Razor Nano 16000k over my 29g Biocube.

I've only had this light up for a week on this tank but so far I'm loving it.

(Tang will be getting moved into a bigger tank)

Hi,

Here are couple of quick shots from my ~350 liter (~90-100 gallons) tank with brand new 300W 16000K Razor. In these shots lamp is running in 55% on both channels. There are also 2x strips of Tropic Marin ultrablue leds, they work as phase controlled moonlight under the Profilux computer system. And daytime they are running 100% to bring even more light.

I have been very happy with the Razor even though it has been there just couple of weeks. I'll post more photos as now lamp is running 80%/90% level and tank is really bright. Have to take some macro shots with dicing camera as well.

Tank is two years old but full of just SPS frags as it is recovering from major crash where something like 80% of SPS went RTN (caused by super hyper high ALK and super pure water with BP biopellets). It will be interesting to see how these corals start to grow under Razor.

what is your lighting schedule for your SPS tank? anyone here have a updated light schedule i just got mines and still playing with it but looking for a light schedule to kinda follow and tweak it alil

Hey guys, joining the maxspect razor club!

I got the 10k 60watt nano version.

New to the saltwater keeping scene, i got a 30cm by 30cm cube pretty much. The lights are 30cm above water level.

Today i set it 70% A and B channel, what setting do you guys recommend me setting it for with the information i provided above.

Dont want to kill corals at high end or low end either. want to be at a happy medium to keep sps too. (pretty much a rough number for me to start at, got no idea at lighting for reef, no par meter)

Any help is much appreciated.

I keep reading this forum and watching Youtube videos on this light. I really don't care for the bluish tone except at night (actinic) so should I get the 10,000k? I definatetly don't want it to be yellow. Decisions, decisions....

Bump for more FTS! I'm just getting back again with my tank. Not much going on. Slowly gonna be adding stuff:)

so are you saying the pictures I am seeing are showing a more "blue" look and it is not that blue in person? I don't want to make a mistake. It also looks like most people do not run this light at full intensity on a smaller tank. Is it safe to assume I can dial down the blue and the light will still give enough light out for my corals?

I prefer a 14k look and the 16k version works for me. I think the 16k has more blue hued leds than the 10k, but don't take my word for it. My full intensity is A 70 B 80.

Yes

p.s. Qualifier....what size is your tank and what wattage Razor are you looking at?

Well,
here's some 1 month feed-back on the Maxspect 43.5" 16000 unit.
very sleek design, colors really do (did) pop until one of the 2 modules failed, leaving it with only 6 of 13 LEDs running.
Marine Depot is shipping out a replacement unit - highly recommend them for support and service, as this unit was only running for 1 month.
only complaint, besides the obvious - that it failed - is the screen to view the program settings is very small and hard to read. can't be my eyes - had cataracts fixed a year ago.

I just got my razor today but I am a little confused on a lighting schedule. This is what I am looking to acheive
Dawn/dusk ramping up and down. Blue actinic moonlight all night or most of the night
Tank comes on @ 10 and goes off @10 or 11 PM
I like a whiter look, not too blue except at night. I want to avoid the "disco ball look"

I also need to start intensity lower to acclimate my corals ( all softies)
What % should I increase the intensity per week, and up to what percent intensity should I keep the light set at once the corals are acclimated?

Any help is appreciated

^^^ this is my schedule:

1- 730 a: 0 b: 0
2- 1030 a: 0 b: 0
3- 1230 a: 20 b: 30
4- 1730 a: 60 b: 70
5- 2230 a: 65 b: 75
6- 1130 a: 01 b: 02

I just restarted my tank and only have 1 zoas and 2 fishes. The light is mounted. I'm planning of increasing the numbers per week of increments of 5 per each channel, 'til I get 80 and 100. Planning of keeping a mixed reef.

If you want moonlights, you need to set #6 to a:0 b:1 and #1 a:0 b: 1. I'm using two points to have the light completely off some point of the day. So far, i'm really liking this light and just works for my tank.

Glad to see that this thread is still alive. I am getting a Maxspect this friday and have a question. I am getting the 20.5" 120 used. Is this the same model that you guys are running or is the one on Marine Depot now an upgraded unit?
