May 2007 TOTM Revisited

Thanks again. I will try and get some pics of the corals in the next day or two, as I hope to show their improvement in color and growth over the next couple months.

I have ordered new 20K radiums and new actinics as well (they are both well overdue...) and will be topping up my ca reactor with media. My reds have gone a little pink and I have a little cyano in the tank which usually means my DKH is off..

ALSO - my LFS will not get my old Maxkor fixed for me and I need a new 400W ballast. I need a ballast that will overdrive a 400W bulb so it does not look as blue - hoping electronic but I really do not care. What do you recommend?

Hi Dave, great tank. What is the photo period for the 400's and the actinic bulbs? Alos, do you happen to know the range of pH you tank goes through in a day?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hey Jeff. Thanks - I run my 400W halides for 9 hours a day, run the actincs for 12 hours a day +/-. pH generally ranges from 7.95 to 8.1 (although I should calibrate my probe). I run a 250W halide over a 50G frag tank and light my fuge both on a reverse-daylight schedule to control fluctuation. Always a little low as I run my ca reactor full out to try and maintain calcium.

Thanks - hoping for a 20% improvement in color and growth in the next little while as the reno's are finally ramping down.

simply amazing!

Beautiful corals and great frag tank too! Just curious what that dark purple coral is, the last one in frame 6?

Thanks. Well my work computer does not let me check my pictures.......but I have a purple slimer, another bulbous (sp?) short purple acro, can't remember the species, and a small colony of what I believe is a purple monster. I am lucky to have 3 nice dark purple corals.

The Velodyne Optimum 12 sub ripples and shakes everything... :D Makes my car sound quiet.

question is can you ripple the water in the tank with the theater:fun4:

pics are completely off topic.....but my summer distraction from the tank

reef, home theatre and cars all in the same thread - times are good

will get some coral pics up again soon...

Ironically yes.

I sold my home yesterday, and my new house will not accept a tank of this design............so the tank will be up for in the next day or so, soon as I get around to it (excellent condition ;), and will be VERY fairly priced).

While I will be selling the tank, I will be keeping my 2 grow out tanks and frags of my favorites until I can incorporate a new display into the new home...not leaving the hobby, just changing gears for a bit...

I love this tank. Any more updates?

Sorry to hear about the tank Dave, but great to hear that you are still going to be around. Congrats on the new house

Dave... I tried PMing you but never heard back.

Anywho, are you selling some of your SPS? I may be willing to take a drive! PM me! :)

Thanks Mark. Will be keeping frags of my favorites in a 50G starphire along with my 2 DGM eels and black tang.

Would not feel right selling you some corals and having you take them home - knowing the potential ramifications of taking them across the boarder.

Agreed :) Now all I need is the supercharger.

Nice wheels!

As noted above, not something I think makes sense given the border restrictions.

A great deal on the tank however, I will likely post it in the classifieds here on RC as I am really only an hour from the border.

Been looking for an excuse to make a road trip to Toronto.
Would love to pickup a few frags
