May Meeting

Yes, we're having the May meeting at mine and Jake's house!

We're having a taco bar so everyone bring an appropriate side dish or a dessert!

My house is off Chapman Hwy. If you need the address PM me.

We're starting around 7:30 on Saturday, May 19th. THIS SATURDAY!

Sorry it's later on in the evening but I work and had to ask off for that night.

We're going to get back to having more education at the meetings in future meetings but this one is mainly focused on discussing the frag swap.

I think Matt had a good point that we should go back to having meeting topics that are educational. We used to have a topic each meeting and someone would either show you how to DIY something or they would teach you about something.

e.g. once I talked about all the different types of gobies that are available in the hobby and what their pros/cons are and Dave showed us how to do a mesh mod on a skimmer to improve its efficiency.

I really want to have a meeting where we DIY actinic LED fixtures. Dave is going to show me how to do it and I'm sure that Scott could help us out with that one. Literally everyone who wanted to build a fixture could get their supplies and bring them to the meeting then we could put the fixtures together at the meeting. That sounds like it'd be cool...even if only a couple of us actually build a fixture. The others would learn how and that it's possible to do it!

Of course I could talk at length about gobies any old day of the week. Someone else could talk about wrasses...reef safe versus non-reef safe...flasher versus fairy, etc etc.

Thanks Mel for hosting and feeding us, it was great to see everyone.
I think an LED build could be a really fun project if there is a willing expert to lead it. Actually a talk on reefsafe wrasses would be cool too...
