May Meeting

12:30 sounds good to me... :D

What should I bring, besides my love of reefing and need for good times??? :p

I may not be able to make it... I'm supposed to fly home from a meeting in Colorado Friday, but I just found out a buddy of mine is going to be flying an airshow in Fort Worth on Saturday, and DFW is my connecting city. This guy is one of the two USAF F-16 solo demonstration pilots.. and he was my flight instructor for several ratings I earned back in the 90s. I'm hoping my airline will let me take a one-day layover in DFW to see his show... but if not, I'll try to make the meeting.

I figure Janie will understand if anyone would!

One of my favorite frags:

Nice. me wants a frag when I set up an LPS tank next year.

That macroalgae looks good too. That stuff died on me, as all kinds seem to in my display.

BTW, how's the new addition?

Lately, a bit rough, honestly. He had turned into a very happy, easy baby for about the last six weeks and then on Wed. he had his second round of immunizations, and wow... it's like all h*ll has broken loose with the spotaneous crying, inability to nap very long, etc. . We're not even sure if it's still from the shots this many days afterwards, or if the whole thing just threw off his previously well-established sleep cycle and now he's having a hard time getting it back.

It was definitely not the first Mother's Day Sarah had envisioned!

Kinda ironic, since you're in the FW planted scene.

I'm on an LPS kick lately, it's all er1c_the_reefer's fault.
He's the one I got that piece from, actually.

I'm working on finding childcare for the meeting.
Had hoped to get a ride with Olivia, but haven't heard back from her yet.
Will make it if I can!

Might have a frag of Blue Xenia to trade if I make it to the meeting.

Been there, done that.
Have you guys spoken to his doctor yet?
That seems like a little bit of an excessive reaction, if it's already been a few days.

We thought we'd let it go over the weekend. If he's still like this when he wakes up today, I think we might.

Ironic? I'm good at growing plants and killing algae. :)
Seriously though, high flow and an emerald crab do quick work of all the macros I've tried thus far. I'll be setting up a proper refugium for the next tank.

Looks like you have two types of macro algae growing in there. One is pretty definitely Red Gracilaria. It's an absolute tang favorite. Priscilla would eat it by the pound if I gave it to her.

The other is one that I'm not super familiar with...maybe red bubble algae? But it doesn't look like the horrible red bubble algae that plagued my existence at one point. So that's positive.

Jeff.... I feel your pain. My son cried constantly for the first 2 years. He's the reason I only have 2 kids. On the bright side, once he got over crying he became my "good" child, his older sister, who never cried for her first 3 years, took over the roll over mommy tormenter, and reigns as champion to this day.

No, it's not Red Bubble Algae, thank goodness!
I believe it's Botrycladia, as pictured here:

I've also heard it referred to as Red Grape Kelp.

Oh yeah...grape kelp would make more sense. Mine was pure red bubbles and a total nightmare. It looked nothing like yours.

You should try to grow that red gracilaria. Everyone's tangs would appreciate it.
