may seem like a silly question.....

...but what kind of magnet clean is everyone using? I am in need of one and have always just used the basic mag float, but I googled it and there are hammerhead mag floats and piranha mag floats and people say they are amazing. Are they worth it?

Basic mag float for me, but just ordered the Flipper after seeing this. Honestly never heard of it before this thread. Will see how it works come Wednesday.

If you are paranoid about scratching the glass like me. Use a Credit card. I keep the old hotel room keys. Will never scratch the glass.

Also magic eraser works well.

Flipper works great, way better than a mag float. It utilizes a stainless steel blade or scrubber. I wouldn't leave it in the tank though. In simple terms, stainless steel works by oxygen creating a protective barrier. When stainless is submerged it can not create the protective barrier and will rust. Also, I highly doubt CoralVue is using a quality stainless steel as I believe these are sourced from China.

Don't leave your flipper in the tank I did and coraline and snails started to grow under the blade and the first swipe down I put some nasty scratches in my side glass ......but on the plus side the flipper is the best at removing coraline and not getting your hands in the tank

Algae Free Piranha!!! When you feel th strength of the magnet vs the cheap mag floats you will ask yourself how you even have done without one....

1 maybe 2 passes and it gets the tough calcified algae and coralline.

IDK about you guy but i hate scrubbing my glass. so about once a week i make a pass and its spotless.

I never like the thought of using a blade on the glass like the flipper for fear of hazing and scratches. especially with a stout magnet.

I have never once cleaned the wetside of the float and it seems to have held up very well going on 3 years old...

We have the Magnavore 4 on the acrylic tank at work.....that thing can be a work out!

This is the second time in as many days that I have heard of the magic eraser being used, do you guys put it in the water?
