I have heard from a very reliable source. That some wild caught Mccullochi clowns might end up here in the states within the next couple of weeks. Just wanted to share the news.

The rumors have been occurring more frequently, I hope it actually happens this time. Unfortunately, they'll be to pricey for me.

They show up all the time, just need a reputable dealer to sell healthy ones.
Confusing them with Latezonatus maybe?

I am not aware of a confirmed MCC showing up stateside in years. And why would they when they sell for 10x in Japan?

i call bluff

i call bluff

I heard the same shizzle about a month ago with a local vendor who had latz and when the pictures came around they were saddlebacks.

Is it possible to have been collected to a close island chain that they may have populated.

Well, MCC are out there, they always have been. $5-10K in Japan was the market price on my last trip through Tokyo.

It makes little economic sense to bring them to the US for lower dollars then are available elsewhere. If such a delivery is to be believed, other Lord Howe specimens are paying the freight. What might that be, Acans?

The rumors are true. My LFS just got a list with 8 of them on it. You better take out a loan if you want one though.

Hey Triggerfish...would this happen to be the "Fish Nazi?" If so, I may make a special trip just to take a few pics when they come in...so, dare I ask...what is an approximate going price on these?!

Dont quote me but my guess would be anywhere from $3000-$4000 per fish.

Hopefully one of the intrepid breeders here on RC will pick up a pair and CB's will become readily available stateside. I think there was a guy breeding them in Australia or something...bout time the US got a shot at them :D

Hey, I'll take one in a million over zero any day. :D

Of course, even if CB do become available, they'll still be out of my price range...

The same thing was said about Clarion Angels earlier this year and several hundred became available.
Yes. And in past years, legal issues have surrounded Clarion Angels, collectors, sellers, and even owners.

As always, the world of hard to obtain specimens is interesting to watch.

your n.j. vendor must've been using the same wholesaler as our philly area vendors which put a new stock list on their forum in the area reef club's web site announcing latez at what would be a ridiculously low $$. i called them on it (didn't even bother going there), and they quickly made the correction to polymnus. before that they announced 'gasters which were allardi. funniest thing was when one of their p.t. employees adamantly posted if they weren't gaster's his weren't either. not long after the same store was selling an expensive clarkii as tricinctus, was only one and i couldn't find the saltwater managers to tell them. oh well, can't expect the lfs guys to be clownfish nuts like us. i don't want my posting misconstrued, i really do want to see the place make it.
