Me again. 40B build. Again.

My friend recently bought one and boy was it a pain to setup kept asking me to connect to wifi and then wouldn't connect so we were waiting for the solid green light and that still hasn't happened so we don't know if it's faulty or if it's something on the AI side

I just got a prime for an 18" cube. No problems, great lights, but for a 40, I would look at the hydra HD. Think it just came out, has the same wifi, but a bigger spread with more leds

I would return it, Sounds defective or have the store that sold it to you help you out. I set one up on my 35 gallon setup and I was programming it on my phone within minutes.

That's also a great option and maybe more suited for a 30" tank but I like the versatility to upgrade to a 48" tank with the 2 primes for only $50 more. Also I think the spread of 2 primes would be better than 1 hydra 26. I like the power output on the primes too they seem more appropriate for a shallower tank. I have 26's on my larger 6' tank and I keep them way down around 40 even with sps. It's all personal preference of course and one prime would ultimately be a little cheaper.

I have 2 mars aquas on my 90 gal and its working well. They are very quiet, great color, good growth,$83 each free shipping no tax. I do have to turn it down to keep the coral from burning. They have no wireless connectivity.

Lots to think about regarding lighting! I'm actually starting to lean back toward the RB Photon 24 (due to the built in controller, warranty, color of leds, etc...), but still researching!

Thanks again, everyone!

On to overflows.... would the herbie method be good? Or is the bean animal one better? (or is it overkill? ) Any other tried and true methods folks like?

Also, I know most prefab overflow boxes are acrylic - can those be siliconed onto the glass? Would I need to worry about it not sticking well enough?

as far as warranty and customer service nobody can beat AI as far as I'm concerned they completely back up their products even used products that you did not purchase new at a store easy and great to deal with bought an AI off of craigslist did not work properly email them they sent me free parts even though the light was out of warranty
