Mechanical filtration

Just want to know what are you using for mechanical filtration, socks, sponges, etc.
Off course in close loop sump set up.

On some tanks I use an HOB filter, others I have canisters, others just the prefilters on the returnpumps/powerheads. Havn't really made up my mind which I prefer, I tend to lean towards HOB filters, but that's only cause they've been used more often by me than any other means.

I only have a foam prefilter on my Skimmer. It gets cleaned twice a week. Nothing from fuge to tank for pods to get back to display.

An emporer is just a HOB filter that has little clamshell containers that you can put Media in. HOB means hang on the back.

I have so little time to work on my tank that I am looking for another way instead of changing socks every 3 days.

HPD, don't get your hopes up on that too much, changing socks out every 3 days or rinsnig out the prefilters or other mechanical filtration every 3 days....it's all about the same as far as being a pain in the rear. Any means of mechanical filtration should be cleansed and rinsed often to reduce the likelyhood of aerobic bacteria building up on the filter media, and thus contributing to a potential nitrate problem.

changing socks every 3 days seems a little anal to me. Cleaning every week or so seems plenty enough.
