Media Reactors- What do the BIG boys use?

Hey Guys,

I currently have two TLF media reactors (one running carbon, and the other for phosphate removal media), and have been pretty happy with them both on my current system (60 gallon DT with 35 gallon Frag tank).

But I'm planning my upgrade (to a 300+ gallon system) and was wondering what are some of the media reactors you would suggest (taking into consideration ease of replacing media, quality, and everything else you typically look for in a media reactor).

Thanks in advance for your help,

Chad

I use a pair of the large BRS reactors. One for carbon and one for GFO.

Wow... just looked at those on-line, and they definitely are a decent price for a seemingly well-made reactor. What kind of pumps do you run on each one?

Thanks for the suggestion!

Any others out there?

They are T'd off of my return pump which is a Reeflo Hammerhead. They dont require much flow and are gated in the inlet and outlet side. The GFO needs just enough flow to get the media to tuble on the surface. The carbon requires a bit more but the amount is negligible in the whole scheme of things. My return pump also drives my chiller which is 40-50 linear feet away in the garage but it too requires minimal flow and between reactors and the chiller, the flow back to the tank is still great. Both the chiller line and the reactors return my fuge.

You could drive them with almost any small submersible pump or do as I did and plump it off your return pump.
