Hello everyone,

Jeff at Paradise Cove Pets is hosting a meet and greet at his store on JULY 15 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This will give me a chance to meet everyone and discuss the future of our club. There will be snacks and beverages so stop by and introduce yourself and share your ideas on how we can keep our club growing. He tells me there will be a nice order coming in for this event, so don't miss it.
Jim
OMS President

This open to everyone even if you are not a Marine Society member, stop in say hi and see what we are doing and maybe even join our club.

Don't miss the event, we will be disucussing some new and exciting things the society is working on...and bring cash for the 50/50 raffle.

I wish I could make it, but I will be out of town! Will you be able to send out an email or something for those who miss it? I would still like to know what is going on!

We would like to thank all who could attend the Meet and Greet yesturday at Paradise Cove and also many thanks to Jeff, Joe and the rest of the staff for allowing us to congregate there.

As per previous announcements, our club is growing and any and all volunteer help is appreciated. Currently we're looking for a Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. If anyone has some free time to spare please let us know which one you are interested in. This is not something where you would be taking on a "part-time job", just a few hours at the most each month.

So far the upcoming events for this year are:
Steven Pro @ Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo's Auditorium, Saturday August 12th - 4:30pm. Admission is at the door, free to OMS members and $5 for non. Memberships will be available at this time.
Joel Inman will be hosting a tank tour in the month of September(date TBA).
Also in the near future we will be holding a used equipment auction. It will be a 75/25 auction where the club gets 25% of the sale price and you get 75%. It is a great way to help out the society and get rid of some of the equipment you have laying around collecting dust and get some great deals. We will be announcing date this soon.
We are working on shirts currently and will have the final print hopefully by the next event or for Septembers tank tour. If you feel you have a image to send please forward that to myself and we will see what we can do. Currently we prefer to keep it fairly simple due to imaging cost.
And finally Jim has been in the works of getting our web site back up. Think reefcentral only on a smaller scale. It will contain a assortment of forums, links, info about the society and will provide a events calendar.
We are hoping to have another speaker come through before the year is out and would like to know if anyone is interested in hosting any more tank tours for the rest of '06. Please if you can think of any events, do not hesitate to suggest or feel free to host. It has been brought to our attention that while more experienced hobbyists may not need it, people newer to the hobby could benefit from our knowledge. So if someone is willing to host workshops on how-tos, let us know.

Currently we are considering implementing new things to the club such as my courtesy calls to all members before a OMS event. I had a very pleasant reception to this and we will continueing its use. I will head this off right now however, we do not sell, rent or share our names list with any private or business individual. We respect everyone's privacy and we are not in this for a profit.
It has been brought up of a newsletter being created and mailed each month. Its contents would work something like the website will and it would be a handy source of information with helpful how-to articles, possible monthly features of ocean/aquarist's inhabitants and the events calendar. We are still considering the feasability of this.

P.S. Paradise Cove always has membership application forms for those who cannot attend our events.
