Meeting Idea's

A tank tour could be fun for those willing to open their homes. That is yet another thing which could be discussed at the first meeting. :)

cdbias2 is kind enough to lend his home for the first meeting. That is sounding like as good of an idea as any to me. Does that work for everyone?

Thanks Curtis.
This was mentioned before in the other club. I sure hope things lighten up and people feel more free to have meets at houses.
I never understood the level of paranoia some have about others seeing their reef tank.

Alright guys, lets keep this on topic.

Is the location fine for everyone? If so, what dates are good for you Curtis?

for the record, i work a rotating shift. i have a solid 50/50 of not being able to make any particular day or time..

I think it's great to have it at someone's house, and think tank tour days would be awesome, but for the first meeting I'm not sure about this being at someone's house because it may be harder to find than say a restaurant or public place for anyone who wants to come and is not familiar with the area. Just pointing that out, I'm sure I can find it, but I wanted to see what eveyrone else thought.

All are valid points but we just haven't came up with any better idea so I vote we take Curtis up on his gratious offer. Also, I been to Curtis' place and while it is on the outskirts it isn't difficult to find.

1. Find a location = CDBias2 Home ?
2. Set a time = ?
3. Come up with an agenda = ?

1. My house is super easy to find.

2.The 6th or 13th is fine with me.(Carb - Set the time)

3. This should be a loose agenda.

Everyone should feel invited, and I mean everyone.

Curtis has a good location for a meeting. He's a great guy too. I'll try to make it but can't make any promises. Work has gotten really crazy lately, plus weekends are my only time to work on my projects.

Cool.

Let's get on with the agenda.

Some proposals:
  1. Curtis' softies tank tour
  2. Show and tell - each one do a 5-minute (max) presentation to show pics of their tank and their setup. Template:
    • Tank info / equipment
    • Salt you use, how often you change water
    • Feeding, lighting, dosing schedule
    • Favorite local and online retailers
    • Best reef advice you can give
    • Worst reef experience
Then, next meeting will be about the latest developments, lessons learned, etc.
  3. Two 15 to 30-minute presentations (propose topics, volunteer to talk about a topic)
  4. Exchange gifts - each one bring something (maybe worth $15) that get's traded randomly with someone else (e.g. coral, additive, fish food, product, etc.)
  5. Raffle - we can contact local, online, or product makers for giveaways
  6. Food and drinks

Add your suggestions.
