So does anyone want to tell the rest of the forum readers a recap of what happened during Friday's meeting??? What has anyone learned? Any secrets, or pointers to give out to everyone?

It was good.

Although I didn't agree 100% with everything said, it did have some interesting stuff.
Talked about Macro and such, running a fuge, etc...

He's a big fan of HUGE water changes once a month, and not small ones every week.
IE: 80% WC every 30 days.

80%?! Wow! Won't that introduce shock by changing water params too quickly? I mean a slight salinity or ph shift would be devastating for most sensitive corals. So does this 80% change occur in one day, or is it spread out over time?

All in one day / 10 mins.
Supposedly it's better to shock the corals once a month then to subject them to high nitrates everyday.

That's one of the things I didn't agree with 100%, but hey if no one tried anything new we'd all still have fish only tanks.
So... do what's wokin for ya..

Thats insane.... 80% water change in one change..... Thats complete shoc to the system....

If you can control your nitrates, then why need such a high WC.
