Meetings - When/where

Greetings,

I wanted to introduce myself. After a 5 year hiatus, I have recently jumped back into keeping SW.

I am very interested joining the C-SEA and attending meetings. I went to the website and it is not in service. Can anyone tell me when / where you meet?

We are always happy to see new members

By the way the meetings are at 7:30pm

Hopefully the website will be back up by then.

Post some pics of your tank.

Just to let you know. We hold the majority of the meeting in the education center which is to the left of the main gates at the zoo.

It looks like I missed the May meeting but am looking forward June's.
Do we start our summer break in June this year, or just take July and August off?

If you tag another thread you'll see my question was answered. Yes we are meeting in June. The topic may be a workshop. There is more detail there but I can't find it again.Yes we are meeting in June.

There was some talk about having social get togethers on about the third Fridays of the summer months. There may be more about it on another thread here.

Also, if you want to go to a general aquarium club meeting, the Akron club is having an Aragocrete workshop on Thursday night July 6th. Akron is about 20 minutes to an hour from the Cleveland area depending on where you live.

just wantd to say thanks for the quick response! i'll keep an eye on the thread for any news.

how big is the club? i came from auburn al, where several (about 15) of us had tried to keep a club going but it was hard to get the few people together. i'm very interested in seeing what goes on in the meetings. please keep me informed.

I believe the biggest C-SEA has been was in the early 70's when it had over 200 members, and each monthly meeting with guests filled every seat in a large auditorium style college classroom and had people standing along both side walls. It was the second biggest area aquarium club then and therefore the smallest. The largest club met in the natural history museum in the huge central area amid the dinosaur skeletons and had over 300 seated. My wife was the refreshment committee there and I picked up 12 to 14 dozen donuts for her and she served gallons of black coffee. Smokers created a haze that defined the outlines of the projector beam. It was a different era that The 70's Show does not quite capture.

There are more clubs in the area now and they are all smaller than in those days. Not sure of the current membership numbers of any of them but most have 25 to 50 people at a monthly meeting. I suspect C-SEA is still the second largest, but that puts them close to the top of about twenty aquarium clubs in the area. With the demise of SWACOL, C-SEA is the only exclusively marine club left. The others are mostly or exclusively freshwater.
