Melafix update

Well after pruchasing a fish from vividaquariums.com and it had some problems with POPEYE. They told me to dose melaifx. OMG! I must have been high to listen to them. The next day after my first dose I get on the forum and see horror stories of Melafix. I was lucky enough to not loose any thing, but my tank is not looking the best at all.

I have been trying to get my skimmer back online for three days but the melafix (even after a 25percent water change) is like a soapy oily substance. PAIN IN THE ARSE!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway I am happy that I have not lost any corals or fish through this mess. I am only posting this in a new thread because I could not search for the other thread on Melafix from the other day.

Happy reefing everyone and I hope this deters others from using the Med from Hell.

Quarantine is a must, especially with a reef tank. I am sorry you found out the hard way about melafix--it does not work for much of anything in saltwater, IME. In order to get rid of it, you need much larger water changes coupled with fresh carbon use. This should help get it out.

i use melafix someimtes, never killed anything in my tank, didnt kill shrooms xenia or yellow polyps, it did say it was reef safe, and i dont haev a skimemr yet, bu twhen i bought it they said if you haev a skimmer turn it off
