Melanarous wrasse Nipping 😁

My Melanarous wrasse won't stop nipping at my purple fuzzy gorgonian. He has a tast for it now.
Is this normal for this or any wrass?
He is very healthy, fat and happy. He gets plenty of veriety of foods and is an adult.
Should I be worried he has a taste for all polyps?
He is such a great fish Im so bummed.

Thats what I thought at first but the gorg has been closed up a lot lately so I started checking my water.
He is ripping the polyps right off the thing. I can see him tugging at it.

I would regard that as very unusual. Every fish is an individual, I'd say you have a rogue. LOL.

My H. crysotaenia (very similar wrasse) is always pecking around the base of frags and anything new in the tank but he's looking for pods and never does any damage.

+1 I've owned several over the years and none have ever messed with corals. Snails/hermits are another matter...
