Melanarus Wrasse and Yellow Coris Wrasse

Just pulled the trigger and ordered a radiant wrasse! QT is all set up. It's great, he's a juvi so only about 2" really excited to get him.

Thanks guys, I almost passed the radiant by, but looked at some more pics again, I bet the color is striking in person.

You will love him and yes they are so much better looking in person and the colors will mature as the fish gets comfortable and healthy. Great choice. Where did you get him from?

I read your post that said they were black... I was going to talk you through adjusting your monitor because I was sure your color is off. They are mostly a striking dark red color!

Thanks guys, yeah, I think liveaquarias colors are off, it definitely looks black on there website. That's where I ordered him,.

He arrived today!!!!!! So small, probably less than 2" which I'm totally fine with, I actually wanted a smaller one, I enjoy getting fish as babies and watching them grow.

The colors are amazing, dark red body and looks yellows green head, looks amazing even in the crappy light that's over my QT, can't wait to see the colors pop in my DT.

No jaw or mouth issues from shipping, arrived in good shape. Acclimated him over 2 n a half hours, it was only 10F here today, water in the bag was 69, so slowly raised it to 76, and he was immediately looking for food on the bottom.

I'll try get a picture tomorrow, and report updates. Thanks for help picking him, so pleased,

My first wrasse and third fish ever purchased was a Melanarus. He is my absolute favorite fish and would get rid of anything that didn't get along with him, but I am glad to say the only fish he has ever bothered was my dottyback. They are now buds and get along fine. I have since added a Fairy wrasse and a Potters with no problems what so ever.

Here's a pic of the radiant wrasse in my QT.

Anything I should be watching out for whilst in QT before placing into the DT? I'm ashamed to say it but I've never QT'd before and just been lucky, should I be proactively treating, or just give it 6 weeks, if the fish looks fine then add to the DT?

Here's the melanarus in the DT. Beautiful colors and a model citizen.

For some reason he likes swimming up and around the vortech, up next to the glass , I'm really not sure why.

I would treat for flukes/intestinal worms at a minimum. Prazipro is popular for this, though not all recommend this (some have had fish stop eating from it, others report it not being effective).

That would be my recommendation as well; do a couple rounds of prazi.

no one really knows why but mine spent most of his time looking at himself in the glass. Possibly trying to show that other guy who the boss is.

Well bad news to report.

Radiant wrasse is on his last legs I think. Put the lights on this morning, and he's just resting on the bottom, looks like he has popeye.

I did an emergency transfer to the DT, (probably a dumb move) but was concerned the water params in the QT were the issue, and was sort of a Hail Mary to try and keep him alive. Released him into the DT now he's resting on the bottom, not swimming but still breathing.

Not sure what else I can do for him.
