Melanurus Wrasse - Pin Stripe Wrasse - Do they rule out clams?

Do any of you keep a Melanurus Wrasse with clams such as 3-4" Derasa, Croacea, or Maximas? I am interested in them for my reef tank, but do not want to add one if it will rule out keeping clams in my tank. If you have experience or knowledge of this comptibility, please share.

Thanks,
Mike

+1 looks like richmondi.

My melanurus picked at the stuff growing on my clams shells when I first got them but never picked at the clams themselves. After he finished eating the little amphipods and stuff he left them alone.

No worries! He will probably check out your clams at first if they have anything growing on them, but after that he'll leave them alone.

Mine liked clams and had to go. I think its kinda hit or miss but most seem to have no prolems with them but there is a chance.

I had my larger male melanarus about a year before I got rid of him just for the reason asked about. He started killing my smaller clams, mainly my 2" ORA maximas. He would flip them over and grab them by the foot and shake the mess out of them and eat the foot. I was wondering why I had lost some clams then saw him do that one day. He didn't bother my larger clams but snacked on the smaller one. He never messed with the clams until he has wiped out all of my snails.
