I was always annoying having to buy a new clip almost every month. The center plastic piece would break every time. The ones I got from CVS hold up forever. I've got a bag full of them somewhere.
Where do you get the ones that don't break?

I've taken a frag from my sunset and a frag from my reverse sunset and placed them on the same frag plug--it should be interesting to see the dichotomy on display one day.

PS: can't wait to see what happens on day 366 with your avatar....sort of like the myan 12/12/2012 calendar. :)

That's a neat idea. I do think we need to get away from "reverse sunset" and just call it "sunrise".

I hope it won't be problematic coming up with all 365 avatars. :eek2:

Your new pics are stunning.
I love the one where the purple tang is with the naso waiting to eat. He looks really cute.

Thanks. :) I love Crown Royal. She's a beauty. Spock gets along very well with her.

CVS is one of those drive-up pharmacies. A bag of them is about $1 or $1.50. The trick is connecting it to something. The magnets I had made have a small tube connected to them prior to the plastic dip, and it lets me secure the clip with a small zip tie.

Since I have to move a tank today, I figured I better get my avatar updated.

Here's the last seven day's worth.

Marc,

You've mislabeled the second one down on the left. I'm pretty sure that's not Eric! :)

When in doubt, Re use some of your old ones and see if anyone catches on.... I suggest Poukie. ... What did I just do... I take it back this will undoubtedly cause another 3 page discussion.

BTW love the pics of the LMB sitting in that huge TSL.

Marc, as promised, here goes a few photos of the LMB I bought yesterday as well as a sea slug that I could not pass up. These photos are from my 29 gallon that I was using as a QT tank for a long time. I decided, what the heck and put a couple guys in there.
Remember these photos are with an iphone.

If I only do that once a month, I'd only have to come up with 353 avatars. Good thinking.

Congrats on your new acquisitions. What does that particular nudibranch eat?

Congrats on your new acquisitions. What does that particular nudibranch eat?

They said algae (fuzzy not hairy). They also said he eats both red and green which is great in this case because this tank gets a lot of direct sunlight through the window and has a lot of growth.

Do you remember whihc plastic dip you used? I've been wanting to use a plastic dip on some magnets. I assume just any plastic dip will be reef safe once it dries, but I'd like to use something that others have used just to be sure.

Dunno - I took a look through a couple of nudibranch databases to see if I could ID it but no luck to date. In my experience though, the ones that are brightly colored tend to a) be toxic (as in for fish that try to eat it) and b) have specialized diet requirements (such as a particular type of sponge, coral, etc. etc.). The ones that eat algae tend to have drab coloration (brown, green) such as the lettuce slug or the sea hares.

This species is the Greek Goddess Nudibranch and I think you are right. I have some sponge growing in this tank, but I am not clear as to what specifically it eats.
Shame on them for telling me that then.

Well, at this point, you might as well see if you can see it feeding on anything in the tank - maybe you'll get lucky and discover it does eat algae after all.

(sorry Marc for totally hijacking your thread - this will be my last post on this)

The Greek Goddess nudibranch (Hypselodoris picta pictures that I'm pulling up look like this:

Shape looks similar but coloration looks different - there is a wide color variability in this Atlantic nudi but once again, dunno. This and this may be useful.

David - I'm not so sure that's an algae eating nudibranch ...

I agree it looks kind of like a Chromodoris annae (but so may look alike), anyway the annae is a sponge eater
