Melev's new Nano!

I'll have to add some new pictures to this thread soon. Lately I just haven't had much to post because the tank simply doesn't have much color to it. Partly because of the 10,000K bulb, I guess.

Wow. I mean just wow. I just read this entire thread. BEAUTIFUL!!!! Makes me want to set up my tank even faster, but yet, I still lack reef funds. Have you thought about switching your bulb for a 14K or 20K?

Yes, I did post a few FTS in this thread. I'd imagine you'll see one within the past 3 to 5 pages. I took a couple of pictures recently. Let me see if anything is thread-worthy.

I've checked on the prices of 12,000K or 14,000K DE bulbs, and don't really want to spend the money on one since I still have at least a couple more 10,000K on hand. Just last night I was thinking how maybe some blue LEDs might do the job of adding some color. Or maybe I'll find something perfect for this tank at MACNA next week.

Here's a full tank shot from today. As you can see, it's collecting coralline like crazy.

melev, how did you get that coraline to spread so fast, how long has tank been up? also what do you do for a living that affords you all these sweet tanks? i loved the sea horse one how is it doing?

This tank was set up in July 2007, so it has been up just over a year. The coralline started spreading like crazy in the past month or two. Around that time, I changed the bulb to a new 10,000K, and I've been dosing Vodka in my system for 6 weeks straight to lower PO4 and NO3.

Remember, this tank is plumbed into my main reef's sump. So the only thing it needed as light, and flow. The rest is provided from the main system.

To pay the bills, I do a little of this and a little of that. I have quite a few hats. :D

The Seahorse tank was taken down after Casper got sick. She was in a hospital tank for nearly 6 months, but didn't survive. Her tank became the Suncoral tank afterwards.

Yes, there were too many in the tank and would sting everything in their vicinity. I didn't want to sacrifice so much space in a 20g to five anemones, so 4 were sold.

That is the MD20, the one that is not wireless. It has a max speed of 2000gph, and I have it running in wave mode.

Good question. The return pump probably pushes in about 300gph, maybe slightly more. And the Vortech in wave mode is probably movingt 1700gph as I don't have it all the way up on high.

This tank is lit with a single 150w 10,000K ReefLux bulb. Thus the colors are not as vivid as we would like.

My single RBTA, with a pair of "black onyx" clowns. Hmm.

 RC does that to me sometimes... I'm not sure what I did to make it so angry at me :

Was just saying that you might want to change the Kelvin rating on your bulbs because those black onyx clowns look a bit faded :D

Truthfully, I would love to see this tank under one of those uber expensive LED systems... too bad money doesn't grow on trees
