Dustin21 - tell me about the different height baffles with teeth. I can't imagine how that would work, unless water is entering both of those zones on the left and then each one flows into the area on the right.

Glad to hear about the top flange.

gsxunv04 - Yes, it need to get some emerald crabs. I put one in a while back, but he went crazy. You may have read about him.

Two nights ago, during flashlight duty, I discovered a bright orange worm that had to be extracted. This is the kind that will eat snails and clams. He was about 8" long when I pulled him out.

Sorry Im not good with paint! LOL! This shows how I "HOPE" It works. The flow is only going to be 200-300 GPH. This sump is for my 20L nano setup.

you may have micro bubbles with your return section being "poured" into. i would put an under baffle after the one you already have

I see. That's a little different than what I listed on my site. I do think an extra baffle or two would be wise, but it makes the return so much smaller.

It looks like you made the teeth with the saw blade. What size return pump do you plan to use?

I just water tested it and it works! LOL! I will be using a Mag 5 for a return. I have this system running on a 10g sump now. I built this larger so I had room for a skimmer. Thats why it is different from your sump. I am worried I may need a bubble trap for micro bubbles. I didnt have a router so I did have to use a table saw for the teeth.

Thanks
Dustin

I have been thinking and I may try to put a baffle or two in the return area. I have a probe holder and ATO switch holders in that area already, but I think I will still have room. How much space do you recommend between baffles Marc?

Here is a close up of the teeth I cut with the table saw.

1" between baffles. And you can drain into a filter sock to stop bubbles, or make a tiny bubble tower filled with live rock rubble in the skimmer section.

Alright Marc! Thanks very much for your help! Sorry for posting all this stuff in you tank thread. I am leave for training in the morning and I will not be home for 14 days. I will update you on how it turns out.

Thanks again!
Dustin

Pay attention during training; you're going to need to know that stuff whenever you are 'out-sourced'. ;)

phew, just read all 37 pages up to here..and iam really stunned

beautiful tank with lots of interesting corals and the shape of the tank itself is awesome

just had a loke on ur homepage, the 2g tiny reef is also absolutly unbelievable, in fact i like all of your tanks very much :D

keep up your nice work and keep some nice pics coming :)

Melev - is that 1/2 loc line or 3/4 loc line that you are using for your return?

Looks like that PVC was 1" and then that reducer puts it to 3/4" but just wanted to be sure.

Thanks,
Brian

The first one split into 5 anemones. I sold off four, and have one that is too big right now. Maybe it'll be nice and split again. ;)

Feed it a lot, several days in a row, and do a 50% water change. That may trigger it.

And no, I never feed mine. It's been growing all on its own, amazingly enough. I may get a picture of it this evening to show y'all.

Pictures are always good. It'll be interesting to see the size of it now.

I've also seen people frag their RBTA's. I don't know if I want mine to split that bad. But like everything in life... it would be nice to do it once.
