might be worm moved in the rock and eating on them. If your parameters are in check, zoapox and other diseases are ruled out, and other zoanthids are doing fine, no nudis, spiders or sundials, might be this. I have found worms living under colonies that were doing the same thing and though I am not 100% the worms were the cause of the problem, once they were removed the polyps came back.
A good dip I have tried from another site is to place the zoas in a gallon of tank water, add 2-3 drops of flatworm exit and let them sit for 15 minutes. Kills nudis, spiders, flatworms, worms, astrenia stars. Rinse in new tank water before placing back in tank. Might also place them in a different location. Sometimes this is all they need if no pests/disease are found.
