Metal fittings getting pitted, corrosion

Just pulled my gear out and noticed the metal fittings are getting quite pitted on my octopus. Guess I'm not taking as much care as I should be. I rinse to with FW after each dive. Anything I should be doing for winter storage with these metal parts? And is there anything I can do to stop and eliminate the pitting?

I assume youre talking about the fittings where the air hose attaches to you backup second stage? After a dive keep the reg pressurized and rinse well in fresh water, even better is to soak... hang to dry and store in a dry space.

What kind of 3nd stage is it?

Gave a better look at the fitting's. Exactly what you said, the backup second stage is the one that is pitted, the metal hose fitting area. All the others look good. After any dive I usually do a FW dip, and leave them there for a while, aggitate the water once in a while and get everything a hand rub. After that I hang it in a locker in the garage. Maybe I should have been storing it in the house during the winter.
