Is a glass lens required for a mogul base MH bulb in a reflector. I know the lens is necessary for the HQI bulbs because of UV, but not sure about the Mogul base bulbs (single ended). I notice that many reflectors are available without the glass lens.

No glass needed for Mogul.
I run my radiums without additional glass.
The glass on the bulb is the shield.
