I have a 24 gal nanocube and the ballist just went out today so I am deciding on buying a metal halide hood. I have found one on ebay for a great price but in total there is 278w. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if that is too much for 24 gal....if so can a change out the lights with a lower wattage or do i have to stick with the watts that are in there now??? Thanks!

Watts don't mean much in this hobby anymore, none the less that sounds like to much light to me. I would do a 70W viper clip on halide, or at most a 150 pendant. The 150 being my preferred choice.
