Metal Halide wiring questions again

I bought a aquamedic reeflex 150w hqi ballast (m81) a while back and never got around to wiring it up to my project.

I had to source a cord and that took awhile in itself.

Basically, i now know that the ground wire from the lamp cord is grounded to any bare metal of the actual fixture.

My question is on the lamp wiring. The socket has two white wire ends coming from it. Does it matter which wire gets the load and which one gets the common/neutral? This is in reference to double ended 150w bulbs.

Secondly, I am going to ask again. What is the recommended gauge for a 150w lamp cord? I managed to get a short section of 14g 600v cord, but it doesn't quite fit/work with the plug end that was sent with the ballast.

No, the white wires are indeed the same. It doesn't matter how they are hooked up.

Halides actually use house voltage so any decent cord will be suitable. Just find one that will work.

i seem to recall the start up sequence on the m81 ballasts > 300v.

there is also a cord length maximum as well with the m81 ballasts that i can't seem to recall.
