I know that this question has been asked before, but I never paid attention due to the fac that it didn't concern me...

Can I run a metal halide light setup on a mantis tank?

Temp. won't be a worry as it is well ventelated. The shrimp has a nice rock that he has bored plenty of holes through - so he will be able to get out of the light.

Sound OK?

I betting your light won't be brighter than the sun, so I would think it should be fine.

Why would you want to put the MH over a mantis tank?

Just my opinion, do with as you will.

if its a peacock or any other deep water species then a metal halide is definately not recommended as some think that bright light contribute to shell disease

if it is a shallow water species it would actually do better under the brighter light
