Metallic Candy Cane growth

Bought this candy cane last April as one of my reef's first corals. It's always been on the sand (24 in. down) and has been knocked around a lot by my coris wrasse. Getting nice growth nonetheless. IMG_1265.jpgView attachment 368449

I like the way the cluster looks so tightly organized. Are the stalks (correct term?) shorter than normal? looks great!

Did you find your candycane sprouted a bunch of branches at the same time?

Thats what mine did. Showed about 12 new ones that all started about a month or two ago (shaded underneath):

And there are 15 now that they are reaching the light:

Your metallic looks very healthy and colorful..enjoy!

i notice the heads splitting rather than new branches forming. i also bought a single head on non-metallic candy cane and it now has 12 heads.

Dang, that's awesome! That's one coral that doesn't like something in my setup. I have great luck with all my other LPS but over the years I've tried candy canes twice and the best I could do was not have them croak too fast.

I have 4 different colonies and mine always split as well. At least that is what I notice. Now that they a couple of the colonies arefairly large, I don't pay as much attention.
