Methods to aid BTA/Ocellaris hosting

So are you suggesting there is no possible chance of it ending badly?

1. I pretty much only deal with "healthy" clowns. If you're starting with a sick clownfish, you have a whole different set of problems.

2. I would only do it with a BTA or a Ritteri. Carpets are the only anemone that in my years of doing this seen eat clowns. (Hosting Anemones.. I think Rock, Condi's, tube, etc. are all very capable of eating clowns also)

3. I'm saying that if start with a healthy fish and health anemone, I don't believe there's a chance of killing of the fish.

So, I suppose that in a very stupid situation, you might be able to kill the clown fish....but if it's healthy, I doubt it.

Well if you searched you might find many others have had bad outcome by doing this even w/ healthy fish.
Yeah, many get lucky, I see it all the time this suggested, as well as just throwing in a new male to a female assuming a positive outcome.
Most here that are experienced are just pointing out a better solution than just getting lucky or taking a chance.

I chased mine in by hand, they took a bit of coaxing towards the nem and then, seeing a large hand and a pair of aquarium tongs as a threat they started testing the nem , in then out again and so on and so on. After about 2 minutes of moving them into the area the one went into the nem and never left again a year later they are still in their.
Again probably not textbook, but my clowns were tank raised and never seen a nem so I figured a little coaxing wouldn't harm them.

Jesus man... You put your hands and aquarium tongs in your tank.. You could have killed them! Are you saying there is no way that you could have killed them?

Just saving everyone the trouble of jumping your ***, because that's what they do here. :) I think it's awesome that you found a way to get them to host. Have a great day!

No one is jumping your stuff, just saying there are better and safer methods, and your method has no gaurantee of a positive outcome.
Just simply stating truth and people should be aware this comes w/ risk

Okay, clearly you just want to have the last word, so I promise after this I won't post anymore about it.

I don't care what has happened with other people. It works for me EVERY TIME... End of story. Some people have never been able to raise clown fish from eggs to clown fish, but that also works for me...almost every time.

Probably won't work for anyone else though, so don't try this.

There.

it took my clowns a few months, one went for the rbt, a week later the other one joined in, they are now a mated pair and lay eggs every few week. just let them be and see what happens
